Default Do I have a bad Iron Man Disc?

I purchased a copy of Iron Man and when I watched it, it didn't have the same clarity as the one I rented, in fact I would say it looks a little grainy. On the rented disc, I especially noticed the freckles on Gwyneth Paltrow's face. The one I purchased doesn't have that level of clarity. Is it possible that I got a bad disc? My equipment hasn't changed. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I'm going to assume you checked for a pop-up menu to ensure it's in fact a Blu-ray (if you purchased it on ebay etc)

Other than that...... maybe you are just more attuned to the details, and are noticing flaws that you didn't before, or not seeing clarity you thought you saw the first time.....

basically I have no idea.... never heard of a bad disc causing poor PQ... it either plays, or it doesn't

what color is it? if the disc is blu, its the corrected version, silver is the first version. Although this has nothing to do with PQ, it was a playback issue

i believe it was detected early by the screeners that were sent out, it was related to certain blu-ray players not playing the disc

IIRC, it didn't play on the Samsung BD-P1500 and the Sony BDP-S300. The silver colored movie disc (disc 1) was replaced with a blue colored movie disc.

hmmm i rented Ironman, got the silver one, and wasn't thrilled with the PQ/AQ, but have a PS3, so guess it shouldn't have affected it. I guess i just had enormous expectations. Its still great quality, but not top 5 like I had thought.

I'm not impressed at all by the PQ in Iron Man. My wife actually made a comment on the PQ, which is something she usually pays no attention to.

The picture quality on the IM disc I have is great. I'm not sure what color it was but its really crisp and clear.

The playing surface on the corrected disc is actually blue? Or is it the cover art?

Edit: You must mean the cover art; I finally remembered that everything from Paramount is usually gray. Checked it out and yep, Disc 2's art is gray but Disc 1's is blue.
