Default Total Recall Review Thread (Spoilers)

Quote:
Neal H. Moritz and his Original Films are in final negotiations to develop and produce for Columbia Pictures a contemporary version of Total Recall, the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi action movie directed by Paul Verhoeven, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The original, based on the Philip K. Dick story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale," follows a man haunted by a recurring dream of journeying to Mars who buys a literal dream vacation from a company called Rekall Inc., which sells implanted memories. The man comes to believe he is a secret agent and ends up on a Martian colony, where he fights to overthrow a despotic ruler controlling the production of air.

I wasn't for sure if the article was sarcastic or his company was actually called Original Films.

Look, I know Hollywood is remake happy, but what (besides $$) can be the reason? Is it because we can now do more with special fx and cgi? If that is the case, does that mean that sooner or later all special-fx-heavy films (a lot of which are sci-fi) will probably be remade? Where do they draw the line?

WOW, def not worth a remake. Seriously they could of used the same basic story changed up a few things and call it by a different name and no one would have really known on this one.

This movie is amazing enough to not warrant a remake.

how about a remake of the blu-ray transfer, now there is an idea

i don't mind remakes, but don't expect much from them either, although a few have been surprisingly rewarding.

ANOTHER REMAKE.. . It is just getting ridiculous. Tell you what, I'm gonna start brainstorming and come up with a decent story to make into a movie. I bet it could get made since it seems like the people who actually do this for a living have no ideas anymore.
