Default Midnight Meat Train...WTF?

I watched Midnight Meat Train last night and for some reason, just didn't get it.

Could someone who has seen the film or, even better, read Clive Barker's book explain the ending.

WARNING Spoilers below...

[Show spoiler]What the hell were those creatures below in the subway? Other than that they feed on human flesh and have been around for 100's of years, that's all they tell us.
Why did the main character start serving the creatures after that dude rips out his girlfriend's heart? Do they have some sort of mind control or something?
What was up with Vinnie Jone's chest?

ok, heres the deal.... The "creatures" are basically aliens.... that live in harmony with us unknown the general population... basically all they do is eat... and the main charachter starts feeding them because he killed the other feeder..... he basically has a "duty" to feed these creatures and keep the cycle going.... this was in Clive Barkers Collection : Books of Blood Volume 1.... it was a short story and there is not much to it besides what i stated.... its justa weird sci fi horror story...

You should be using spoiler tags... just a heads up.

just throw 'spoiler' into brackets before and after your spoiler, and it'll cover it up.

and he was marked as the new feeder to the creatures earlier on in the movie when they marked his chest. he started acting weird and shit like that. it's not like he was completely normal right up to the point his gal got killed. he had already started his transformation long before that point. I didn't think it was the greatest film ever but I had alot of fun watchiung it. some pretty cool gore going on there.

[Show spoiler] especially the extraction of the eyeballs

it was ok and I thought it had so much potential.

the CGI blood was lame, why not just use an actual substance to give it a grittier appearance?

this was a movie that could have easily been 20 or 30 minutes longer and elaborated on the back story a bit more. it was interesting

There's already a lengthy thread on this movie, but what a great flick! More enjoyable than most of the lame horror films that have come out in the past 10 years.

The fake gore turned it into a comedy. The eyeball thing. Gimme a break.
