This is one film I need to see, everything about it sounds great. It it worth a blind buy on Blu-ray, or should I give it a rent first just to be sure it's worth adding to my Blu-ray library?

its one of my favorites, you should definitely check it out, judging from your collection, it looks like it would be right up your alley, its not a straight up action flick, but it blends it nicely with the behind the scenes spy work

i know ill be picking it up, you should probably give it a shot, i would guess you would definitely like it

It is an underrated film in my opinion. I just noticed it is coming out same day as Three Days of the Condor, another great Redford thriller. Looks like this will be my double feature the following weekend.

i would have to say one of the most boring movies ever. I pretty much like anything to a certain degree. Even liked battlefield earth. This movie kept making me fall asleep though. Of course just my opinion.

This is a great movie that I can watch over and over, and make a point of watching whenever I see it on TV.

It's actually a pretty good flick. I'd consider getting it on Blu'.

Excellent! I really love this movie. Brad Pitt and Robert Redford were great together. I wish they'd do another movie.

Will add my DVD to the 'get rid of it' list.

Really hate to disagree with most of the people in this thread, but this movie is one huge bore.

antimatter, pardon me for saying so, but what's the point of your post other than to bump this topic needlessly?

Blu Titan's opinion notwithstanding, this is a damn fine flick. I liked it on DVD and I love it on Blu-ray. I don't know what the BRDC reviewer's problem was, and I don't care, this is good looking BD - at least a solid 4 out of 5 (couldn't possibly be less than a 3.5). The sound was better than average as well, perhaps a 4.5. But, ratings are like as ... er, opinions - everybody's got one. I thought it was smartly written and never missed a beat - a solid late-period Robert Redford turn and one of Brad Pitt's best (yeah, I said that). As a matter of fact, IMHO, the whole cast was great. Those of you who were falling asleep might wanna get more beauty rest before your next movie.

I can see where Blu Titan is coming from, though. It's a long movie with a lot of dialogue. However, I'm a fan of spy films so it kept my interest throughout. I haven't seen it in a long time, but if I remember correctly, there's a nice little twist at the end.

Oh, I love Titan, I just - respectfully - completely disagree with him and slaizer2000's overly harsh take on this one. The last line -
[Show spoiler]"There's been an incident in China" and the look on that little twerp Harker's face
- fab ending!

I see this with State Of Play for cheap. How bad are the PQ problems on this film if anyone is still around. Meh, just bought it. Seems fine from other reviews and we all know Scott does a lot of processing.

State of Play is okay , but Spy Game is a really nice movie. The best BDs ever? Not hardly, but sometimes folks get lost in worrying about the transfer. If it's the best version of a good, solid or great movie, it's the best version At the current price, you got a great deal, enjoy!
