Default Burn 25 GB Audio files on Blue ray Disc

Hi guys,

I'm hoping that I'm posting in the right place. My question is it possible that I can burn 25 GB audio files using iMac on blue Ray Disc? If so Can any computer read the files?

Thank you in advance.

I could be wrong (I'm not a Mac guy) but is blu-ray even supported by Mac?

Assuming that both are, the answer is yes- it's just a storage medium. Just remember that only a BD player or combo-drive will be able to read it, of course.

Thanks aramis109 for the reply.

I'm not sure if Blue Ray supported by Mac. But If not, is it possible to burn the 25 GB audio files using PC?
Are the files going to play as audio files or just data?
Can any PC computer read it?

Thank you very much.

Depends on how you burn it and the software. BD is just a storage medium, so in that respect it's just like a cd or dvd.

well really you are getting into a grey area with your questions. The site here doesnt discuss piracy or how to circumvent it. Now burning home videos, etc is acceptable as long as you are the rightful owner of the material. There are numerous burning programs for HD including Nero

You got me wrong mate. I'm not looking for illegal ways or discuss piracy. I have no idea where you got this from to accuse me like that.

I'm a Mac person, and I have more than 25 GB maybe 37 GB files that I want to use blue ray to be as a storage for them.

These 37 GB is audio files (LECTURES) for a client who is the rightful owner. He wants to send them to get a copyright for his material( He has to pay $ 80 Canadian for each DVD, CD that contain the audio files.) So that why we are thinking of using blue ray and as you know blue ray has not been yet supported by Mac, therefore, I'm just wondering if there is a free software that I can download to burn these files on PC or do I have to buy one or is there another method in PC? Again I'm a Mac person.

That is the whole story mate, and I hope that you are satisfied with it.

Well Macs don't support Blu-ray. And you would need a Blu-ray burner to do this. So I doubt you could burn some BDs with a Mac unless you install a BD drive yourself.

If you have a PC and install a Blu-ray burner it will come with some software that might do the job for you. I didn't use the LG software that came with my drive other than the driver and some sort of maintenance app that cranks up so I am not real sure of this. I use Sony Vegas to create my own Blu-ray videos. If you haven't wandered over to the media and software section of this forum you probably will want to look through some threads there on the topic. I think some similar questions about using a Mac running Windows to burn Blu-ray might give you some more insight.

I don't own a Mac but since a friend showed me that the underlying system is Unix I am tempted to try them out someday when I am feeling rich. Good luck with your project, but you should be able to get your content source to pay you for creating his Blu-ray videos which would rapidly pay for the drive in the first place and any software you might want to use with it. Also anyone wanting to view the Blu-ray would have to use a Blu-ray player or PC with a Blu-ray drive to do so, even if you burn HD content to a DVD.

One last minor detail, a Blu-ray BD-R for example, actually has 23.2GB of capacity which actually is close to 25,000,000,000 bytes so they sort of fudge the shorthand for capacity to 25GB - just in case your files are that big. Of course when you are editing/authoring a video you will have compression options that will give you a lot of leeway depending on the quality you want.

This is not going to help the OP at all since I don't know of a Mac software that can do it.

I'm unclear about the copyright laws. Do they want the recording per se regardless of the format? Do they consider each format of the recording a different copyright? The answers may affect your effort.

37GB of audio files is damn huge. Is this uncompressed? This question is related to the questions above.

Thanks guys for the help.

Zicmubleu, I'll let my client to know about blu-Ray if he wants to put the audio files on 2 of Blu-ray disc or put them in 6 -7 DL DVD.

WriteSimply, The copyrights will give the right for the file content (it does not matter to them which format your file is. That what my client explained to me.)

Yes I know, it's huge files, and they've already compressed.
Thanks again guys.
