Question Sony blu-ray BDP-S300

I just bought a new onkyo a/v with HDMI, My question is does my sony player handle 7.1 I can only get it to use my old 5.1 surrond. can any body help me< i've check and reckecked the manual Help DR

It will do 7.1 LPCM (movies like 3:10 To Yuma) with no problem, through the HDMI connection.

Everything else must be bitstreamed and decoded by your receiver, which should not be a problem. You're in good shape.

The 300 will not decode DTS-HD Master Audio, and it will only decode Dolby Digital Tru-HD with an upgrade to Firmware v 4.50 (see the Firmware section on this site), so it's probably best to let your Onkyo handle those chores.

does this player plays bd-r bd-re disc
or sony S300 vs sony S350
whihc is good ?
whats the difference?

1. the player does apparently play both BD-R and BD-RW (im assuming instead of RE as a mistype)

as the s300 being the older version, not having the latest profile available, not supporting HDMI 1.3, as the 350 being the newest model out there in that category, there are a number of differences.

please refer to the specs link indicated below....
