English Patient is great, but if they do the 1080i again.. I will not buy it, they did it to Derailed... so no buy from me. I have the HDDVD in 1080i, why go back again on blu?

We still don't seem to have specs for the 4 Alliance titles being released today.

But at least DVD-Beaver has come through with a comparison on The English Patient(1080i...film is only 24GB, 1.85:1 & presents more image on the sides than previous DVD): http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/dvdcom...ishpatient.htm

Cellular - 1080i & 1.78:1 (incorrect ratio, should be 2.35:1), no subs or extras

Trailer Park Boys: The Movie - 1080p & 1.78:1, no subs but is supposed to include the original DVD extras(likely because they were produced by Alliance)!

I was looking for it at HMV but they didn't have it yet.

But if it's 1080i, I ain't getting it but 1080p, I'm totally picking it up once I find it.

I hope it's a worthy upgrade

Stay away from this release...
Confirmed as 1080i & 1.78:1 (incorrect ratio, was 2.35:1 theatrically), plus the usual no subs or extras.

Cover art states 1080i & 1.78:1... Unless someone has had the chance to actually buy & check out the disc itself and say otherwise, I'm stickin' with the bad news.

Why are they doing this to such fun flicks!?!?!?! Hostage, Se7en, Cellular, etc... Changing the aspect ratio is NOT cool!!! and non 1080p either? Really ticking me off!!

In the event that Alliance does not have access to the original elements, then BD producers have to use the HD masters for pay television broadcasts which are 1080i and cropped to 1.78:1. Alliance wants to push these titles out as quickly as possible without waiting for the proper elements to be available.
