Default UK Price Search sites?

Are there any good lowest-price search engines for UK releases? It would be helpful to me and I imagine others.

You've asked the right person.

http://www.cheapbluraymovies.co.uk/

EDIT: I don't know if you have trouble using their compare search (it doesn't appear on my browser) so if ever you do, simply use this address and add your search at the end by replacing spaces with a + sign, for example:
http://www.cheapbluraymovies.co.uk/compare/iron+man

Bringing up an old thread, I know, but what UK site do you use now for comparing prices of blu-rays? I used to use Find-DVD but don't find it as good as it used to be - it doesn't seem to find prices at as many shops now and lots of the shops it lists don't even link to the shops anymore. I don't know if they're updating it much now.

So any other recommendations?

There is also Price Demon which is the comparison tool linked to the DigitalFix website (and the DVD Forums). I always found this less good that find-dvd.co.uk

The problem you have these days is there are actually very few online retailers left in the UK. So you are just restricted to Amazon and a few others.

I know historically some online retailers eg Sainsburys Entertainment (now closed) did not allow their sites to appear on comparator sites plus would not provide affilitate income these sites rely on receiving from click through.

Agree with comments that the owners of the find-dvd website have allowed it to slide in recent years, obviously not investing in keeping etailers in the search results eg

Tesco : listed as a company they search, but never gives a price or link

Asda : disappeared and no long appears on search list

Xtra-vision (HMV Ireland) : Never added to companies they search

Rakuten : listed as a company they search, but never gives a price or link, as their website is crap compared to the Play.com they ditched. Their site allows multiple listings of same product, one per reseller (so similar to ebay) rather than one product listing which then includes all the prices (as Amazon Marketplace and Play Trade used to work).

I like and dislike that feature, one listing per seller. It can by annoying wrangling the search, to just show what you are looking for.
However, if you are looking for cheap blu-rays or DVDs, when you set it to 'Lowest Price' it actually starts low and scales up. That may sound obvious, but Amazon has (and play.com had) problems doing that with their search. Unless the price is from Amazon themselves, it can be all over the place with £0.01 + £1.26 blu-rays showing up on page 17 rather than page 1.

Example, page 4 of an Amazon search for 'blu-ray'. Top of page, "Little Fockers" is 1p used and 40p new, both cheaper than the lowest price item on page one.
Also, sellers via Rakuten are usually a lot clearer about the condition of item, with the title including whether its used/preowned or a rental copy.

So if I feel like finding cheap a blind buy blu-ray, if I search from £0-£5 on Amazon & Rakuten, I'm actually seeing all of the titles in that price range, can't say the same with an Amazon search.

When doing that on Amazon you have to filter your search.

I've done a bit of searching and found a site that returns much better results than Find-DVD: 123PriceCheck.com

It includes Rakuten (Play), Xtra-Vision and Tesco. It also includes Amazon Marketplace and eBay - showing the best price for new or used at both of them.

I've just done a quick test for the last Hobbit film for a 3D blu-ray copy. 123PriceCheck finds the cheapest price as £18.21 delivered and returns 14 results, whereas Find-DVD finds the cheapest as £19.99 and only returns 6 results! Also, if you don't mind a used copy 123PriceCheck also finds that for £15.99.

There are still a couple of shops that neither list that would be good, tho, and HotUKDeals is good for finding bargains when you're not looking for a specific title.

I think Best DVD Price is better than find-dvd (which I used before). Find-dvd along with various other price comparison sites never seem to have the correct Amazon price displayed.

i think you'd often find mismatches between comparison sites and the sites they monitor - something to do with how i'd imagine information is farmed or provided, causing a delay.

I don't find mismatches as much of a problem with the comparison sites as them sometimes saying they compare shops that they don't actually, so you think a shop's been checked when it hasn't.

They also don't include voucher codes - so sites like HotUKDeals (and Blu-Ray.com!) can find deals that you won't on a comparison site.

i don't tend to rely upon a comparison entirely - i always go off and check sites that comparisons don't seem to have included, in case they have it. something like rakuten is a bit of an oddity as it functions as a store front-end and they have bizarre loyalty points that compensate for over-inflated initial prices that are there even outside these promotional periods, it seems. tesco do something similar, as club card points can be doubled-up for certain online purchases. might also explain the limited stock range, i guess - not tried them for films though, so just another example.

... anyway, the biggest pain for me is amazon because of the shifting prices - i use camel camel camel to monitor, and if an items been around a while before i become interested, I've a good sense of how low i should wait for it to drop to again. otherwise, i use a typical value that films see to go to after a few months - about £8. if something's a new release and unusually low in price as a pre-order, i use flubit to get a little more off - though that seems to have been affected recently by amazon's £20 policy / additional of postal charges.

I use Camel Camel Camel a lot too - not so much with movies though (unless buying an expensive box set) as for single films the prices don't vary by a huge amount - I usually just want to get the best price available at the time I want to buy it. But with more expensive things I buy from Amazon I always check it to see if it usually sells for less.

I've not tried Flubit - I've heard of it but am not quite sure how it works! One reason I often buy from Amazon is that I know them and am pretty sure they'll handle things that go wrong well - but I'm not sure how things are if buying via Flubit.
