New Firmware Update to give the PSN an overhaul? No. Hiphopgamer FAIL.
Quote:
Since the launch of the PS3, there have been numerous complaints about everything that the PSN is missing. A perfect online community is what gamers expect from their console when they hop online. Now currently, there hasn’t been any console to deliver a full online experience at its best, though it would be considered that Xbox 360 is doing it right and closest to having the best online experience. Now there might be something amazing coming to the PSN.
The XBL can achieve this because its user base is already huge and Microsoft is pulling in money from it. Microsoft can revamp the look of their 360 or the entirety of their XBL experience with ease. Online gaming is major in the game industry especially now since XBL is the face of online gaming for the console market. Users want the best experience and Microsoft is closest to delivering a perfect experience.
Although Sony has been consistent with firmware updates, we’ve all been waiting for the big bang, in other words, the firmware that matches 360 feature per feature & then some. Sony started off their game messy and scattered, but they quickly picked it up and showed they could deliver on the goods. While every update delivered a fan requested update and a few other little tidbits, the PSN is definitely nearing the gap. Aside from the features it still doesn’t have and is overly requested, Sony has tossed us a few bones here and there; for instance Home, the Photo Gallery, the ability to stream content from your PC to your PS3, and a few others, all in all, some good treats. All this being so good, I don’t understand why they don’t give us the best right away and then give us all these features we think we don’t need ( I say think because we may end up using them for many things or just using it because we love it).
Rumors spreading around the net indicate that Microsoft will drop the price on their XBL. Even at their current price, people are still signing up with the XBL having well over 17 million users paying for the Gold Membership. What an amazing achievement for them, but what would make them drop the price on their Membership? Does Microsoft know something we don’t? Possibly it’s that Sony might be planning to revamp on their service which will give you all the amazing features you need and want. If these screenshots are true then we’re looking to have in-game voice chats, full cross game invites, music playback on all your games, instant messaging, an more. This could finally be what we’ve all been waiting for and also this could put Sony in a bigger and better position for the rest of this year, considering a 100 dollar price cut, amazing exclusive titles, and now this possible new update to the online component. It will take time for people to realize what it’s all about, but it will definitely get the attention it deserves within time.
