Default Where would you place it?

Finally we are leaving the Duplex and are buying a house next month. Closing is in a few weeks. House is on a great location, good town, but mostly the price and condition was not to pass away. This house its just 4 years old. I saw over 25 homes and while i saw many with great potential for a great "theater" room, they needed 15-25k in repairs, improvements, etc... the house i am buying only needs painting to my taste and caulk on some windows.

Unfortunately i do not have a great room for my toys. The living room is just 15 x 15. I want you to give me some pointers as to how would you setup your HDTV and surround sound. I am more worried about the Surround back speakers, because they will be over the listeners, instead than behind them.

The setup will be a 50" DLP, SONY receiver for the 7 speakers, 2 subwoofers, couch, love seat and a coffee table.

Based on the room you've pictured, and where the furniture is, I would suggest the following:

1) Just run with a 5.1 channel setup. Rear surround speakers aren't necessary in a room that size, especially given where the couch is shown. Plus, most soundtracks today are 5.1, and 7.1 channel tracks will just mix audio from the back with the side surrounds.

2) Consider in-ceiling rear surround speakers. They might be a pain in the rear to wire, but in-ceiling for rear surrounds would help make up for the physical placement limitations in the back of the room.
