Im not a huge fan of Samsung products. I always feel like the are cheaply made or going to fall apart on me. I just dont trust them. Denon is always known for making high quality, high reliability products. When I worked retail I saw more Samsung products returned or sent out for repair than any other product. Thats my observation and feeling.

I think you need to look at the features that both offer,...and decide which one best fits your needs and expectations. Both offer excellent features. Bear in mind that for everyone that dislikes a certain brand,....there are others who like and have no problems with it. Denon and Samsung are both leading manufacturers in this field. I own both,....and have no problem with either brand.

Personally I would not get either, I would get the Sony 550, which is selling in the $300-325 range now. But if you are set on one of those two, get the Denon. The Samsung players are junk that have good specs but poor performance records, and a bluray player is only good if it actually plays bluray discs. Freezing, lock ups, sync issues and failures can really put a dent in your viewing pleasure. Samsung customer support sucks as well. Go with another brand, and this is from an owner.

Don't pay $350 for the Samsung if you can get the Denon at that price. From my understanding and, the recent line of Samsung Blu-ray players have better build quality and performance vs the first and second generation models. I recently got the 2500 and find it to be outstanding with excellent color and detail reproduction packaged in a slim and attractive case along with Reon HQV video processing. The Denon is going to be larger, but some folks really prefer that.

The Samsung 2550 (Best Buy only) or the Sumsung 2500 (same as 2550 w/o Pandora) is a better. deal. I have the 2500 and found it to be a much better product than my old Sony S300. The samsung has the HQV processor and can stream Netflix if you choose. Make sure you understand that the Denon is a transport only Blu-ray which means you need an A/V receiver to get the advanced audio. On the other hand if you are looking for an A/V receiver go over to engadget an scroll thru todays posts and will see a deal from Denon that allows you to buy a Denon receiver from $1199 and up and get the denon blu-ray free.

I cant believe you even have to ask this question. If I could have a (real) Hummer (Denon) or a Yugo (samsung) for the price of the yugo, I think you could figure it out from there. Ive had the Denon 2500 for over a year now, you will NOT be disappointed. |

Your kidding right? The Denon 2500 BTCI was a 1000 piece of equipment. An excellent blu ray player. Better than my Pioneer Elite BDP-94HD. And I love that player. But if your into bd live and all that. The denon do not have a ethernet port. Also You have to have a receiver to decode the lossless audio. It was stated that it would not work connected directly to display device. But some people stated that it work fine. But for picture it is close to perfect.

I have its big brother an upgraded (modified) Denon 3800 BDCI which is a great player. The Denon 2500 BTCI is a transport (that is what the T stands for) only with only HDMI connections; it has no rca, XLR, coaxial, or toslink (optical) outputs to go to your receiver or Pre/pro. If you can live with those restrictions, I would expect that it will be a stellar performer for Blu-ray as well as CD and DVD.
