On my psp, under game, and then memory stick, I have corrupted data present. If I choose to delete the corrupted data and then go to usb mode, go to psp and then game, there is no update folder present. Everyone knows that in order for the psp to recoginze a firmware update for the psp, you need to have a psp folder, then a game folder, then an update folder. If I add an update folder, my corrupted data appears again. If I format the memory stick and then go back to usb mode, I have to make an update folder, if I do this, my corrupted data appears again. I think that it would be best to get another memory stick pro duo unless there is something else that I can do.

I don't know if it makes any difference but did you name the update folder 'UPDATE' all caps? Is there actually an EBOOT.PBP firmware update file inside the UPDATE folder?

Here's the deal. The update folder is in all caps. I know that the firmware update file has to be inside the update folder for the handheld to read the update. My corrupted data does not show up on my computer as a file. The update folder will be empty.
