Default Which speakers for my apartment?

I got very nice check today from a job i did. I want to upgrade my speakers for under 300-400. I have a sony dg720 with bose acoustimass speakers and a sony 12" sub.

Im thinking of replacing the center, left, and rights with
polk monitor 50s and a cs10 center and using the bose for the surrounds

The monitors 50s are 100 each and the cs10 is 130 so 330 for all three

OR buy the polk RM6750 for 200 and sell the sony sub or polk sub depending on what sounds best. Plus use 2 of the bose for the rear surrounds.

The first option would sound best i think, but i live in an apartment so i don't need it to be too loud. Any suggestions?

If you want a step up in quality, the 50's and the CS1 would be the better choice. It's simple physics- tower speakers, even when not played loudly, are capable of more than just a satellite. Having owned the RM6750 set as well as some 60's (a step up from the 50's) I can tell you that there is a huge difference.

Ahh, yes - the choice to be made when it comes to apartment HT...

...whether to go with smaller speakers or larger ones.

I say, get the Polk M50s and CS10! You can always keep the volume down with larger speakers, which will also perform better overall. Remember, there will be a time when you upgrade your living arrangement, and when you do, you'll not have to upgrade at all (...famous last words!).

Monitors would be better then the 6750's.

Check this out, Just got them myself and they are much better then the TSi 300's(Monitor 50') I listened to and going at a great price, you can also find the CC50 center channel on that site too for about $88. Or if you prefer black ash over the cherry go to www.wwstereo.com and they have the same speaker for $125 and center for $99, or do what I did and get the bigger center the cc100 from www.buy.com, just another option. Energys aren't a speaker you will want to upgrade anytime soon either.

Good luck.

Yeah, I'd take a hard look at Energy as well, for sure.
