yes, but the Disney Vault is kinda a scam, I mean almost NO dvds or blu rays have infinite print numbers, they do stop after so long, I mean people don't buy them forever, Disney has then in print for like a year, then "puts them in the vault" but they are still easily findable at any Wal*Mart since they have so many that people just never bought.

This applies to newer-released titles, yes. But good luck finding some vaulted Disney DVDs that were released multiple years ago. You can still find Warner snapper case DVDs from like 1999 in huge abundances, but you will never find a copy of Beauty and the Beast or The Lion King. They have been vaulted, and it absolutely shows.

Um, I don't think so. I think retailers have until a certain date to sell through these like when E.T. was released on DVD, but by the time that date arrives most stores are sold out and can't get anymore anyway.

Is Lion King (DVD) out of print? I had no idea. I am glad I have a copy. It is a personal favorite. I did read the just recently Disney yanked a handful of their releases from commercial sale. I thought Little Mermaid and Toy Story was among them, and perhaps either Peter Pan or Alice in Wonderland (not 100-percent sure).

The Vault is nothing more than a marketing tool. It's what drives the consumer's to purchase their titles. Before a title goes to the vault, a lot of purchases are made. Likewise when they become available again.

Since I switched to blu-ray, I will never pay more than $15 for a DVD again. Just don't see the point. I do LOVE Lion King but I will wait until it becomes available on blu-ray to get it.

That is correct retailers are sent a return sheet by the film companies. For our company Disney would send a return authorization form and corporate would send each store a inventory list as to what we show on hand and that count is what needs to be returned.
If we dont return that amount we need to have a reason listed, corporate zeros our count and we are unable to sell that barcode anymore.
Like the Peter Pan and Little Mermaid pull.
It is a marketing ploy and the vault used to be 10 yrs, but now I think it's been moved down to 7. You can always find it at a second hand, ebay, etc, but normally you wont find it at many bigger retailers Target, Best Buy, etc since selling after vault dates arefollowed by fines just like breaking street dates for dvd's and cd's.

Believe it or not one of the worst "companies" who suck on returns is Walgreens. They never do ship backs when they are supposed to. I found a Little Mermaid dvd box set last week.
