Star Trek's Chris Pine the Frontrunner to Play Hal Jordan?

While we've heard numerous casting rumors recently surrounding Green Lantern, we finally have an update that not only comes from legitimate sources, but seems like the perfect fit. It was first reported by IESB (and separately confirmed by Latino Review) that Warner Brothers is looking at Chris Pine for the role of Hal Jordan in the upcoming Green Lantern movie. Although J.J. Abrams' Star Trek isn't out yet, we already know Pine as the newest Captain James T. Kirk. And it was Kevin Smith who said last August that Pine "is going to be so famous" and that "the guy that plays the lead is an instant star."

Well there's already a denial via worstpreviews

Both IESB and LatinoReview are reporting that "Star Trek" star Chris Pine is on the short list of actors vying for the Hal Jordan role in the upcoming "Green Lantern" film.

It's not surprising that casting rumors are hitting the web today, since it was just announced that the film will begin production in mid-September with not a single actor currently signed.

According to Collider, who checked in with their source at Warner Bros, the Pine rumor is absolutely is NOT true. And while the actor seems like a good fit, since WB is looking for someone in their 20s, I would rather see Sam Worthington or Ryan Gosling in the role. Too bad both have already passed on it.
