I've had Nokia mobiles almost since the start of my mobile life. First was in 1993 and it was a 1611. Since then I've only changed from Nokia twice, once was a Motorola V3688 back in 1999 and a year or so back when I went to Samsung (for a week).
Anyway, I've always found Nokia's so flexible and truly loaded with amazing gubbins but my current one has been nothing short of a travesty, certainly for the last month anyway. I have an N80 and it's gorgeous and flexible and usuable. But for the last few weeks it has had virtually no signal, texting has become a freeze/crash ridden nightmare and the whole thing has been moving slower than an HD-DVD user's brainwaves. Despite undertaking a factory reset and repeated reboots, nothing - still rubbish. Then some kind soul pointed out to me that Nokia (like many other electronics companies) issue firmware updates for their phones. D'UH! I don't know why I didn't think of it! ![]() My phone was on 3. something or other and the latest was 4. something - about 15 firmware updates since the original issue. So I went through the painful process of updating. Now, it's superb! Super fast, super steady and laden with loads of new applications, options and even fonts. ![]() Top bombing! ![]() |

Looks nice, is it wide? Looks a little 'chunky'.

A friend of mine imported the n95... boy it that thing a piece of work, but there is no way that I would spend $750 on a cellular phone.
I am in the market for a nice series 60 Nokia phone. The U.S. gets the major shaft when it comes to cell phones. That n80 looks nice, I'm going to see what kind of price I can strike up on that bad boy. |

Not really. When closed it's 2"W x 3.5"L x 0.75"D. Quite an old phone here now but still on sale, I've had mine for about a year now.

I think mobile phones must cost more in the US than Europe. When I got the N80 it had a retail of £550 but with my contract it was about £120 - but that was a year ago when they were a brand new model. Now they're free with even a basic contract and ebay would yield new ones for about £100.

I have had a Nokia 3360, 6630, N-gage/QD, N91, 9200 and most recently the 9300.
![]() Sometimes the firmware upgrades will fix minor bugs but I have never had issues with reception dropping out like that. The 9300 is by far my favorite out of the bunch and I love using it as a wireless modem for my laptop. |

I just got my wife a blackberry pearl, which was like 4-500 bucks. After some swaggling I got it for 50 out the door w/2 year agreement. That was a couple months ago, now I think 50 is the standard. |
