Default Sharp LC42D85U firmware ?'s

Hi,

I just bought the Sharp Aquos LC42D85U and was wondering about updating the firmware.

Sharps own site doesn't really say what the update does or if its really needed.

Anyone actually know what this does and if it's needed?

PS:Really nice tv by the way, especially watching sports like the NHL, the diff between 60 and 120htz is quite noticeable

Thanks

Hi, I've been told by Sharp Canada if the TV is operating ok, no need for updates. Others say to download the firmware. I checked Sharp Canada and they have NO update for your TV. I have the Sharp Aquos 42D64U model. Canada's site and the US site run the same with updates.

Smile Sharp TV

HI,
I bought a new Sharp LC-D64U with a free BD-HP20U Player in Jan. '08.
During the first month, I called Sharp about the TV. I must have got lucky and got the right Tech on the phone or something.
This guy could not posibly have been nicer. We were on the phone for about 45 minutes. We went through the ENTIRE menu and he explained EVERY setting to me. In the picture section, he told me what number to set the color, contrast, etc, on. He basically reduced all the factory's "HOT" settings. He told me that calibration was better, but not always necessary. It's been about 14 months, and this TV has been playing about 8-10 hrs every day. The picture still looks as good as an old Technicolor movie!
I have an in home service contract and Sears will come out here and update and "adjust" it. Since it's not broken, I am reluctant to let them "FIX" it.
