Default Freddy vs Jason review

Hi,

Im wondering if anyone can suggest if I should buy the Cdn Freddy vs Jason release, or wait until there is a US release. Im not sure if a US release has even been announced.

The Cdn release is pretty sparse as it contains only the movie, but if the quality and sound are up to par, I think I'd probably pick this one up and just keep my dvd one for the special features.

Thanks

I have the disc from Amazon.ca and it looks and sounds great. If you want extras there are none (there's not even a main menu), so you'll have to wait in that case. But if you just want the movie with HD picture and sound it's great (and relatively cheap).

I'm curious about the price too - you can buy it from Amazon (US) for about $26 (before shipping), they do list that particular import...

I didn't know this movie was even out on blu-ray. Is there only a Canadian release as of now? I think I'd rather just wait until there's a authentic U.S. release.

I just ordered it for $16.99 CDN. So if you were to order it from Amazon.ca, you could knock about 20% off that since the US dollar is worth about 20% more than our Cdn dollar.

Anyone else notice that on the DVD a few scenes in the theatrical run were cutout and shortened? I've brought this up to a few people but they didn't notice.

For example, the rave scene has a few trimmed sequences. Like when that fat kid throws everclear on Jason and lights him aflame, you can see how it jumps around weird. There were a few extra scenes that transitioned those events. I can also swear the aerial view of Jason in flames walking through the corn field was longer in the theatrical run. There were a few more scenes but everything was fresher in my mind five years ago.

Any way, maybe these scenes will be restored with the Blu-ray release.

Personally I buy movies for the movie. and This one is a great addition to the collection. Picture quality and audio quality is definitely worth the buy.

extras would of been nice but I wouldn't let that stop you from getting the movie.

I bought this on ebay and its a really solid transfer. Im not huge on extras but a main menu would of been nice. I paid about 23 bucks new.

Oddly enough, I prefer the lossy Dolby Digital track on this blu-ray. The DTS-MA track doesn't sound at all like the same mix, and the surrounds are mixed way too high and over-power everything. The DD track is balanced with clear dialog and active but volume-appropriate surround sound.
