Default opnions on front sound stage

On a $1,000-1500 budget.

I currently have monitor 60's and cs2 in the front, what can I get that has serious balls? I am going to move up into an onkyo 876 and a seperate amp, so power isnt a problem.

some good choices, not really diggin' the klipsch though. Throw in the Monitor Audio Bronze setup. Those are nice. You could even get the smaller towers of the speaker that I have..Quad 11L (they'll run you $1300 for the pair).

You can probably get B&W 684's and HTM62 for around $1500.

For your budget I'd suggest auditioning Monitor Audio Reference Silver line, starting with the RS6 speakers up front, paired with the RSLCR center channel. They have superb fit and finish, and they sound much more expensive than their price point.

Here is some info and reviews:

RS6 Towers: http://www.monitoraudiousa.com/produ...6/your-speaker

RS6 Reviews: http://www.monitoraudiousa.com/produ...rs/rs6/reviews

RSLCR Center: http://www.monitoraudiousa.com/produ...r/your-speaker

RSLCR Reviews: http://www.monitoraudiousa.com/produ.../rslcr/reviews

I must stress that you shouldn't blind buy anything when it comes to speakers. Definitely give several speakers an audition before buying. Given your budget range, I think the Monitor Audio speakers above would be great to audition, along with Paradigms as well. If your speaker budget increases, I'd suggest considering B&W, Definitive Technology, or Martin Logans.

If you can stretch the budget a bit further, I recommend a pair of MartinLogan Sources.

Good choice Rich! They do require some space though, I think! They don't like to be crowded....

If you have to stay under 2k, I don't thing you'll find a better speaker than Revel Concertas if you are considering towers.

Or Dynaudio Focus 110s for monitors. Both speakers retail at $1500

I second the Revel recommendation. I'm not sure it gets much better than that at the under 1500 group. The Monitor Audio Bronze might be close, but if I were picking it'd be the Revel's. If you can stretch the budget to 2k, you can pick up quite a few more options, including lots of top notch speakers on the used market.

I don't know dude... You gotta hear the Focus 110s for yourself. The bass is unbeliveable and it has very good midrange and highs too. Here's a review from whathifi http://whathifi.com/Review/Dynaudio-Focus-110/

Yes, that is true: Logans do require a bit of sacrifice on the space front, but the listener is well rewarded for their efforts!

I'm just wondering why a Onkyo 876 and a seperate amp. Can you tell more about your idea with this type of set-up?

Just putting together a system piece by piece. I cant go out and spend 1k on a pre-amp and another 2k on a descent 5 channel amp right now, especially adding in new front end (which I just did a month or so ago )

My plan is to build a system I can use as a primary then later on move it to a secondary (like a family room) then I can buy a great pre-amp.

Oh!!! Ok!!!
Good idea....
I was just wondering why buy a powerful receiver and connect it to a amp, but I see what you mean.
