just picked up the denon 789, and have a question for anyone. On the front of the receiver is the small panel that hides the aux. video connections. In order to use this do i just run a video cable from the video out (there are 2 one labled monitor, other vcr) on the back of the receiver, to a video in on the tv. my other connections(blu ray-receiver-tv) are hdmi.I want to hook up a camcorder or game unit to this out. thanks

OK, yes, you should be able to hook into the front of the reciever and have the cables in the back of the receiver running out of the receiver and into the tv so you can hookup your camcorder or gaming system.....
Consult you owners manual it should have it all in there for you so you can walk through it. |

Front-side connections are typically for convenience factor only- like using a camcorder temporarily. The connections should be duplicated on the back side. I would recommend running a game system from the back, as well as any other "permanent" connections.

I don't really understand this question. What are you trying to hook up here? Did you read the first chapter of the manual that shows in detail how to hook up your components? Typically, I don't even need to look at that part of the manual becuase it is visually self-apparent by just looking at your components how to hook it up, but if you are having a problem figuring it out, read the manual. Keep in mind that the Denon manuals are poor translations from Japanese to English and it is easier to read if you think of it as trying to understand what a Japanese visitor might sound like when talking to them.

If your receiver does video conversion you will not need to run a composite out. If it doesn't do video conversion then you'll need to run the yellow( composite ) monitor out to your tv, in order to use the front panel aux input.

I just looked at the 789 manual online. It does video upconversion, so no need to use composite( yellow ) monitor out. Plug your video game into the front panel aux input. The receiver will upconvert the composite( yellow ) front panel aux input to HDMI output to tv.
