I currently use the RM6750 subwoofer and it sounds great but what do I know lol. I could upgrade to the Polk PSW111 but will it make a dramatic difference? If not then I will save the 300$.

I bought the 6750 system myself almost a year ago and love it, it works fine, no problems, but I wasn't 100% satisfied with their 8" sub. I noticed during some films, it wouldn't have that nice punch you'd expect or hope to have. So, after talking with people here, I upgraded ($99) to the PSW-10 and Loved it. Loved it so much in fact, that I bought a 2nd one for the other side of the room! Quite a few people here have that sub, some have 2 like me -- Forsberg21 can attest to it as well, we have similar set-ups in fact. I have the Polk T90e's on order, due in a day or so actually, and will be ordering the Tsi100's for my rear surrounds.
I'm toying with the idea of using 2 of the RM6750 speakers for 7.1, but if you don't want to spend (or can't) the $300 you mention, I'd definitely try out the PSW-10 (or 2 if you want!). For the price, I think it is a very good sub and does the job. My living room is approx. 11x13', and I have one to the right of the TV, the other across corner from it (left of my couch under an end table). The 2 work quite well together, a nice even balance can be achieved with some tweaking on the settings. |

I upgraded to the PSW10 and am much happier. There is the occasional port chuffing issue but not all that often and it can be negated by putting some polyfoam in the port.

Aerodude73 and Driver King each make a good point. I think it may just come down to you listening to some diffrent subs to see what is best for your room. I felt the need for 2 subs due to the funny shape of my basement and the cermaic tile floor. I didn't want to break the bank, so 2 PSW10's did the trick. I have heard rave reviews on the A2-300 and for $350, is a very good price. This appears to be one hec of a sub, but you do have to order online and it takes about 2 months give or take before you get it (I could be wrong on the time frame, but there is some time involved.) Once I got my 2 subs, the gaps or dead space in my basement where the bass lacked, was all but elimated.

LOL.
Seriously though, as someone who had the RM6750 sub at one point (it was the last upgrade I made when moving from it to my Polk setup) there is a large difference between it and a "real" sub. I thought that it was pretty decent too. Then I got my current sub in and it literally blew it away in every respect. If you have Kung Fu Panda, you're missing out on the true power of "The Skidoosh". ![]() Do yourself a favor and upgrade that sub. Movies truly will be worth re-watching when you do so. Personally I would recommend against a Polk sub- as mentioned there's port chuffing and low-end extension issues. The eD is of course a great choice, but going from a teeny sub like the RM6750 to that may cause divorce papers to be filed. Other options include Hsu, SVS, BIC, Acoustic Audio and Premier Acoustics (PA). |

Yes! I just got around to finally upgrading that sub myself this week. I ordered the Acoustic Audio HD-Sub12 - check here:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=85212 It was 198$ free shipping. I had to exchange it since it got some dents during shipping. However, I did get to test it out through a whole sitting of Live Free or Die Hard as well as some music. The AA sub destroys the 6750 sub. If you turn up the 6750 sub very loud it starts breaking up and distorting.. it just can not handle high volumes very well or deep bass. It is not always entirely obvious during movie watching because usually high bass audio scenes have a lot of other stuff going on the mask it (explosions, etc). Once you sit through a movie with a nicer sub you will notice the bass sounds a lot more smooth and less chunky. Anyway, my AA sub handles high volumes perfectly while the 6750 chokes and even at lower volumes just sounds better. For a package sub the 6750 is actually pretty good for what you pay though! However, if you are starting to upgrade your 6750 set I would upgrade your fronts and center first! This will have a larger impact on your audio for starters. I guess what I'm saying is you could get a PSW111 for a bit less than $300 if you bid on a refurb. Check out the store and you'll see what I mean (i.e. PSW111 currently $99 and LSi25 towers for $760/pair). |
