What was the last movie that hit you in the face with it's awesomeness?
For me it's The Phantom of The Opera - Joel Shumacher didn't just make a good musical, he made one of the best I've seen. It has flaws but it's a beautiful movie with the costumes and sets, not to mention great singing. How the same guy can make that and the less appreciated Batman films is astonishing o.o. |

Pan's Labyrinth on Blu blew me away. I had got it at BlockBuster for $10 Canadian. The story was fantastic and the audio was magnificent.
Regarding Phantom of the Opera. I think it could have been better if they had picked a proper singer for the role of the Phantom. The other two main leads were phenominal singers. |

The last film that blew me away was 'The Big Lebowski'. A lot of the movies that I consider great movies actually grew on me, whereas Lebowski hit me right away. And in no way am I actually saying Lebowski is great filmmaking, I just enjoyed it immensely. As far as actual great filmmaking, it's gotta be 'There Will Be Blood'.

For me it's probably Wall•E when I saw it in the theater. Of course there was the immense "wow" factor of the computer graphics, but the story was actually pretty good, too. I love how they brought up an agenda without shoving it down our throats. I get enough of that where I live.
This one is still on my wish list for Blu titles I must own. |

For just being totally awesome and a wonderful pleasure to watch...the last one would be Dark Knight.
For it's impact and resonance as to it's cinematic importance...Schindler's List. More recently, would be Milk and Wrestler. Both are phenomenal films. It's a difficult question and some of the movies that came out in the last six months alone makes it a hard one to answer. |

I kept wondering in The Dark Knight what it was going to leave out (not much) and when it was going to crash and burn like Spiderman 3 (didn't), it just kept getting better and better. Considering my expectations were incredibly high, I can't believe how good that movie turned out to be.
I was 100% satisfied with that movie. |

The Fall. The acting performance from child actress Catinca Untaru (who was like 8 years old when she was making this) was stellar. Plus the vivid colors and scenery used throughout the film were spectacular. This was an excellent rental.
