Contact Blu-ray Review

The 1997 film Contact (starring Jodie Foster) is coming To Blu-ray this fall from Warner according to the chat with Warner Home Video Theatrical on HTF.

This is one of my favorite films on DVD that has yet to be revisited with a 2nd edition, so a Blu-ray would be awesome. I love this film.

I might rent this one at that time as I didn't get it the first time I watched it. I really want to give it a chance but I thought it was really dissapointing the first time.

Look forward to checking it out with fresh eyes.

I don't even remember anything about this movie other than aliens and large satellite dishes so I'll read some reviews first before I consider it.

Contact needs a new release bad. The original DVD was released in Dec of 07 I think... I remember ordering it when it was released and the compression wasn't the greatest since all the extras were crammed on one disc and 3 audio commentatires etc.....

so for it to be released on BLU would be great.

Day one purchase I just hope the cover art is cool, and not a photoshop mess.

Great movie that has decent science in it, plus a good story. That is hard to come by. Can't wait to hear the HD audio!

Thank you, thank you, thank you - 'that1guypictures' for the heads up!....one of my favorite scifi films of all time....great cast (except for McConaughey) and production values -- director Zemeckis (Forrest Gump) always ups the ante. Saw this terrific, cerebral film (based on the Carl Sagan novel of the same name) 5 times at the theater. Action genre fanboys who expected scary-looking aliens and spaceships were obviously disappointed when this came out. I remember a couple of twenty-something guys behind me asking each other who 'Carl' was, after noting the on-screen dedication to same, just before the end credits -- of course, I don't blame them, as the Carl (Sagan) reference would escape most fans of this movie.

Anyhoos, Ellie's pre-launch sequence and her 'journey' thru the wormholes will no doubt sound fantastic in lossless audio....I routinely use these sequences on the dvd to demo my Buttkickers w/my 140" scope screen....short of a D-Box simulator, this is an incredible, immersive experience....Fall can not come soon enough!

It is a decent science-fiction movie. I will pick it up when it comes out as long as the transfer is decent and the image looks solid.

Decent blockbuster with Jodie Foster... I think it made me cry at some point, or something, I wouldn't buy it but im very glad it makes it to blu, it has such nice special effects!

Good point. A lot of these older movies are getting crap cover art which, in all seriousness, really does affect my desire to purchase them when they make them look like cheap bootleg versions.
