United Kingdom Fast and Furious movies from the UK - region free or not?

Unfortunately, in the US, the The Fast and the Furious trilogy is only available as a complete set on Blu-ray. However, on amazon.co.uk, they seem to be available as standalones:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=fast+and+furious+blu-ray

I checked www.blurayregioncodes.com but they do not have info on these titles. Does anyone know if these are region free?

On their Amazon sites, they say Region 2. They seem like they would be region-locked.

So does The Dark Knight (on amazon.co.uk's site), but blurayregioncodes.com lists it as region free.... I'm confused.

Amazon's region code information is totally wrong. First of all, they use DVD regions (1-6), which don't apply to Blu-rays at all. Second, they just automatically assign the region code that corresponds to the region of sale - so ALL DVDs/BDs sold in the UK are marked as Region 2, all DVDs/BDs sold in the US/Canada are marked as Region 1, etc. So basically, don't look at Amazon's region code information at all, it's completely irrelevant.

As for your specific question, I do not know the answer. Hopefully blurayregioncodes.com will update with those titles soon to give you a definitive answer. I personally am not aware of ANY Universal BD, domestic or foreign, that is not region free / ABC - so I would bet that the UK The Fast & The Furious BDs are also region free. But I don't have a definitive answer, so don't take that as 100% confirmation.

They're region free. The only disc that UK Universal ever locked, was Mongol.

agreed, basically Amazon labels everything region 2, B so if you buy it they arent responsible because it wouldnt play. They dont test discs, They post studio supplied info.

and that may be because it was a new release with a different US distributor(WB) We are talking catalog titles that are already out in USA and I will confidently say its region free, same way with the upcoming Bourne movies

Looking at the specs its the same as the US disk.

UK The Fast and Furious comes with an VC1 encode.

UK 2 Fast 2 Furious comes with an AVC encode.

Both are region Free. Waiting on the third movie to arrive.

Looking at the UK and US specs and the UK version has the US FBI and PG13 US openings it looks like the UK version are a direct port of the US disks.
