Add Flags to post icons to help find canadian traders

Would it be possible to add flag icons as an option in the "Post Icons" section of the "Post New Thread" especially for the Trading forums so that mbrs can show if they are selling from Canada or elsewhere

This way potential purchasers can identify without opening a sale thread where the seller is from. I won't use PayPal so will not purchase used items from anywhere but Canada, now I can identify the seller if he opted to use the icon.

I used the lighbulb icon as an example for this thread.

Heh heh - up here in the great white we have EMT with our banks - basically it's Email Money Transfer - it's pretty instantaneous - transfer of funds usually within 10 minutes between 2 parties.

ahh, well I suggested separate sub forums for uk to uk trading and Canada to Canada trading. Our trading area isnt that big unlike AVForums so I am not sure there will be much use in having them(little or no traffic) but it was a request. Imagine posting a thread and not getting any views, defeats the purpose so adding the flags as Post icons may be an better solution......

I suggest putting you want to trade via Canada only in the thread title. Not singling anyone out , but I can only see 3 active threads after opening all 30 on page one that are from Canada and only 1 didnt specify a payment format. bone crusher says PP only and Pentatonic wants Amazon.ca GC's. Achmat didnt specify.
The problem may be there just arent any traders meeting your criteria

yep I agree with you, but the Canadian mbrs that are putting PayPal only will likely accept EMT from a Canadian mbr. They just want maximum exposure to their sale and PayPal is great universal option, until something goes wrong, then it's a pain. I just thought that with the "option" for mbrs to use a country flag it would save time searching through all the threads.

While a Canadian only trading area is a good idea it eliminates the exposure to other potential purchasers that would use PayPal or some other international means of payment unless they were to create multiple posts in the other trading areas.

Using the flag as an "optional" post icon will allow the poster to identify his location prior to opening the thread - once the thread is opened then he can indicate that he will sell to anyone or just someone from his area if that's what he wants.

All of the post icons are in the "smiles" anyways so why not have flags there Well it's just a thought...

That's a good suggestion, we can look into it

I also like the suggestion of just adding flags for the trading forums. I think it would be much easier to just add that instead of having 3 or more separate forums for the different countries.

no no no it should be strictly optional on behalf of the poster - some people may not want to be identified that way.... I would suspect that it would be used for origin though

hmm, well look at the board, 90% off the people do not use Post icons? adding to that alot of people use the same thread, so I leave it as it is?

Yea I would leave it optional, it'll catch on you'll see

Everybody can edit their own thread if they want to - just need to hit edit then advanced - they then have the option to make the change if they want to. We just need to make everyone aware that it is available

okie doke.....since they can do it themselves we will leave it as users choice

Are these supposed to show up next to the thread title? Because they don't which means that you will still have to open a thread to see the icon. Correct?
