Default MTV to start showing music videos...

...funny title?

Quote:
From imdb.com:

MTV is going back to its roots during the early morning hours between 3:00 and 9:00 a.m.,showing music videos, news, interviews and live performances (including its Unplugged series of acoustic performances), the New York Times reported today (Monday). Stephen Friedman, MTV's general manager, told the newspaper that it regards the six-hour block as an opportunity for experimentation. Occasionally, he said, a single company might sponsor all the programs on the network on a particular day. "We're trying to move as the audience moves with their consumption habit," Friedman said.
"an opportunity for experimentation"?

So they've never tried showing music videos on MTV before???

What an interesting concept... I would be a funny April Fools joke if MTV played only music videos all day long like they used to. Perhaps if they did only videos that were popular their first year on the air.

I think their first year on the air, there were only 15-20 videos and most of those were Rod Stewart! April Fools INDEED!

Of course, you do know that Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes were basically The Buggles in Video Killed the Radio Star. They were both in Yes for a single LP- Drama. Geoff of course is the Keyboard Player for Asia and in the Heat of the Moment Video that I showed. Trevor Horn of course has become a big producer and Produced the Yes 90125 album where this huge hit and video of Owner of a Lonely Heart were released:

Yeah, I saw this story yesterday and this morning checked and sure enough, a music video was on. It has honestly been years since I saw a music video on MTV, usually in the morning they show Made or True Life or My Super Sweet 16.

I can't remember when it was the last time I saw a music video on MTV...they should just go off the air and something else should take its place.

I think its too little too late. I was turned off of MTV years ago.

Ahhh..the days of Pat Benatar and Rod Stewart.....I miss those days.

Yes, why don't they kill the creature once and for all? This channel's identity crisis has been going for so long...

MTV = Morons TV.

MTV is nothing more than a lifestyle channel now that caters to 18 to 24-year olds exclusively. They got out of the music business once they realized people like cheap reality television about trashy people.
