Default Mortal Kombat Blu Ray

It may not be cinema gold, but it's definitely one of the best, if not the best video game adaptation yet.

But the special features on it have to be better than what's on the DVD version. Because when it came out on DVD, DVD was still in it's prime so the special features are very minimal (Character bio's, a trailer). No Behind-The-Scenes, deleted scenes, not even a commentary track.

Hopefully, if they put it out, they do a DTS-HD Master Audio track.

I would also love for them to put out MK: Annihilation on Blu Ray as well. I know that it's a terrible movie, but I would love to hear what the director and actors think about it, 12 years later. I could definitely picture a commentary track where they rip the movie apart.

You have to understand that nobody wants to do all that work to make mediocre moves more enjoyable. Most movies nowadays get good treatment anyway, even if they're several years old. I want Mortal Kombat (1995) on Blu-ray but I don't need special features, you can dig them up on the internet.

Some of the best cheesy movies ever, would definitely grab them if the price was right just for the smoking hot Katana.

I would love to see the series on blu-ray, or regular dvd even.

Speaking of Mortal Kombat, anyone else want to see "Beowulf" with Christopher Lambert hit blu???????????????????

This movie was great at the time I saw it. Now I'm not sure how it will hold up. Some movies are timeless and some are just stuck in our youthful past.

Now that Blu-ray is pretty much the standard HD format, it would be great for Mortal Kombat to make an appearance. I remember when MK was first release don DVD, it was in a matted widescreen, which most of you know made no sense since DVD players could add the matted look for non widescreen TVs. They did finally release an anamorphic widescreen version, but it took to long as I lost interest knowing that a new HD standard was on the horizon. So yeah, bring on the PG violence. :-)

actually no, MK has NEVER had a U.S. anamorphic release , we're still waiting on even that. A bd would kick A$$!!,

Could have sworn there was, but like I said, lost interest in waiting.

Now why Mortal Kombat: Annihilation DVD is in anamorphic (or even made for that matter) we will never know. :-)

Figured I'd bump this thread back up since recently learning about the Alliance Blu Ray releases in Canada. I would still love to see these movies get released on Blu Ray, with some extra goodies.

I know there are a few making-of videos floating around somewhere. I remember seeing one for Annihilation on Starz I believe, many years ago.

I haven't seen the original since it was first released, I wouldn't mind owning it on BD (the sequel sucked though).

I do remember that I was disappointed with the CG animation of Reptile, and the puppetry of Goro (Jurassic Park set the bar too high I guess). However, I thought the fight scenes were good, and I liked the look of Sub-Zero and Scorpion.

Really? I thought the CG was done pretty well for its time. I was about 9 or 10 years old when it came out and I don't think I had seen Jurassic Park at that point. But I agree, the fight scenes were awesome. I remember being blown away by the fight scenes in Annihilation as well, but that is probably the only redeeming factor of the movie.

I actually broke out MK Annihilation again about month ago and I gotta say I feel so bad for anyone who was dragged into the theater not knowing anything about Mortal Kombat (i.e. my parents). The movie is such a mess with actors recasted, terrible acting and dialogue, and characters randomly popping up out of nowhere and then disappearing with no explanation of who they were. At least the costumes looked very close to the video game.

Never mind, I just watched some clips from this movie on Youtube, and it looks like a piece of crap. I must have just had nostalgic memories of the film from when I first saw it.

I'd love to have this on bluray. I still have the old snapper DVD and watch it every now and then. Christopher Lambert as Rayden was pretty awesome. MK1 is def a 4.5/5 movie for me.

But you Have to admit that MK2 is trash. I really cannot watch it again. I even sold my DVD of the movie. The recast was terrible and Jax didn't help the cause. Overall 0.5/5

I remember thinking that this movie was great when it first came out. Of course, I know it won't hold up now. I still say it's one of the best video game adaptation movies ever made. It succeeded where Street Fighter failed, and was actually entertaining. Street Fighter was a total bore despite a decent cast at the time.

I'd love to see Mortal Kombat in blu ray.

Yes, Annihilation was crap. That movie should disappear forever.

Seeing as how Warner Bros has the rights to New Line films, I'm suspecting Warner Bros to release a bare bones double feature blu-ray with both movies. So in short, not only do we get no extras, but we'd be forced to have the abysmal second film.

MK co-creator Ed Boon said it best when asked if he liked the first or the second movie more: "That be like asking if I like lemonade or piss."

Yeah, it was years ago in a video game magazine. It was sort of a "ten questions" thing, and that was the last one
