Default having problems connecting PS3 to internet!

I just got comcast cable after moving back to Spokane.

I connected the ethernet cable to the PS3 and it won't find the connection.

In the past it just automatically connects.

It's set for wired, not wireless so that's cool.

When I "test connection" it tests and then fails on the 1st selection.

Any suggestions?

well, simple thing to double check. cables are hooked up correctly. make sure the connection definately is working right by having it hooked to a computer... i know they are dumb but sometimes people over look simple things...

works fine with laptop.

I even restarted ps3, and I also reset the modem.

I remembered that switching my ethernet between desktop and laptop I'd have to reset the modem each time for whatever reason.

Still nothing.

at first when I reset it it ran the test when I asked it to and found the first two but before psn network it said I had to system update but I can't get online to do that.

Not sure that that would keep me offline anyway. *shrugs*

Does your ISP lock you down by your MAC Address? If so, they have your computer's MAC address in their system and your PS3's MAC wouldn't be allowed? Just a thought. You mentioned a computer works... have you tried another computer to see if two different computers work?

I'm just throwing it out there. My ISP doesn't lock down via MAC Addresses anymore, but I remember back in the day how many problems that caused people

it's working.

I had to unplug the modem AND turn the PS3 off...then plug in the ethernet to the PS3 and then replug in the modem.

I'm golden, pony boy!
