I am looking forward to buying an animated movie, for the kid in me is wanting it. I want an animated movie that will make my hd tv work for its pq, because animated movies are digital to begin with. The problem is, I don't know which one to pick up. Wall-e, Madagascar 1&2, Bolt, and so on I have seen and loved, but I don't know which looks best. A little help, anyone?

While I think Wall-e is excellent I would probably recommend Kung-Fu Panda as it's more of a balanced experience, something for everyone and quite funny.
For me the PQ in these two BR's are of different styles but equally amazing. Why stop at one? Buy them all ![]() Last edited by Geezer00003; 04-04-2009 at 11:53 AM. Reason: spelling mistake |

I'd get Ratatouille and/or wall-e if you're set on a cgi animated movie (imo are amongst the best looking films available on blu). I'd highly recommend getting a more traditional anime as well, or for some trullt brilliant 2d cartoon look at the furutama movies on blu as well as the simpsons movie. Stunning.

Let's not forget 'Horton Hears a Who'
I feel that movie is greatly underrated. I would personally rank it above Kung Fu Panda, but I am a bit of a sucker for Dr Seuss. That being said, I'd still recommend Wall-E as the one to get if you are only getting one. |

agreed! Wall E was my movie of the year, just as a movie, and is so far my favorite blu ray of the ones I have, which is limited. Overall with the movies I own I was impressed with all, but amazed with Wall E.
Also its been said that with Wall E you get a second movie free! though it is just a documentary about Pixar studios its very entertaining. You also get the two shorts Presto and Burn E. |

Yeah, out of what you listed, go with Wall-E
Also, for one that hasnt been listed? As least give a rent to Surf's Up. While maybe not the best story int he world, it's decent for sure. But I found some of the Water effects and sunset scenes and whatnot beautiful, PQ wise... |

Ratatouilli is the best SOUNDING and LOOKING animated movie I've seen.
Of the ones you've listed.... I've only seen Wall-E and it looks pretty great. Can't comment on sound..... as my Son was sleeping, so it was turned LOOOOW |

Kung Fu Panda, Ratatouille and Wall-E top my choices. For replay value, Kung Fu Panda and Ratatouille top the list. Wall-E is, without a doubt, excellent but since I bought it I have only watched it once. I need to watch it again.
Of the three, which makes me laugh the most? KFP. |

As far as Blu-rays go:
Cars has a creative storyline and a lot of charm to it. Quite a few surprisingly well thought out scenes, and a great ending. Ratatouille is distinctly unique in its plot and style, and is a visual/aural masterpiece. A charming movie, for sure! WALL·E is slightly more grown-up in story (although my son loves it), and has stunning video and sound. It can really tug at your heartstrings. You already have Kung Fu Panda so I don't have to mention the non-stop humor and ultra-creativity of the visuals are in this film. Absolutely pristine audio! |

I'm going to dissent from the group here, and say that I HATED Wall-E. How anyone could sit through the full movie is beyond me. A movie with no dialog? C'mon now.... gorgeous picture quality aside, it couldn't hold my attention.
I'm not big on animated movies in general, but I did just watch Ratatouille, and I have to say that that movie took Blu-Ray to new heights. Watching on a 58" Panasonic Viera Plasma (Panasonic BD35 BDP) was mind-blowing. If you want to see stunningly-detailed gorgeous PQ, check out "Ratatouille."
