A setup with a lot of class and very unique, uncommon components and speakers. Really like your 52" XBR4. I have the 40", and although it took all I had to get that TV a year and a half ago, I have never regretted the purchase, save for wanting a larger screen nowadays. Still, once calibrated, the XBR4s really deliver the goods and still stand on par with all except the most elite LCDs even today.

One more observation. I like how the tweeters on your (tall) towers are lower, beneath the other drivers. Keeps them in nice line with your ears from your listening position.

Yes I love the XBR4. If only they were sammy LED-thin . So true Rob, but this tweeter configuration is only found on the Contour range and the Confidence 1 monitor.

Is that a Universal remote sitting on the bed?

if not, you might want to think about getting one!

Nice setup. Always love a clean look.

Thanks. Yeah that's a Sony universal remote. Its a piece of crap but I got better things to spend my money with than a new remote-like a separate power supply for my CDP or better yet an new sub and Turntable.

Funny but when I bought my XBR4, I thought it was attractively thin at the time, but the technology just keeps getting thinner and thinner, doesn't it?

You can still get your Sony fix - well, maybe. I saw a Sony 40" LED-backlit LCD monitor screen which measures less than 10mm thick. This was at my local shop just yesterday. I do believe that it was the KLV-40ZX1M I saw on Sony's site. Not sure if they make one bigger (such as a 52"), but I would imagine those days are coming, either via LED backlighting or OLED screen. Thin is really becoming IN!

I'll wait until 2 years from now until the LED technology has matured, besides the XBR4 can still stand toe-toe with the best LCDs right now...Currently, I'm still HI-FI crazy so new TVs are the least of my preoccupation

Nice setup, Rded.

Love those towers/center channel, what brand are they? Looks like they kick some serious a$$. I'm also a big fan of Sony's XBR4, i came so close to buying that tv when it was first released. Problem was the price was definately out of my price range at the time

Despite the high cost at the time, the XBR4 can still hang with the best of the current LCD's, no quesion.

I've been curious about your setup for awhile. Looks really nice. Those speakers look beautiful. What kind of stand is that for your set/where did you get it?

The Dyns are not cheap. But they were dealer demos but were absolutely spotless. I was able to haggle with a circuit city manager for the XBR4. I think I got it for around $2800 2900 at that time-it came out to a little more than $100 above invoice Yup I still love it...

Aramis,

Thanks for the compliment. Its a Laurier TV stand. I also got that from CC at around 30% off from the same manager. I just don't realize why a lot of people hated CC. When they finally closed, it was a real sad day for me.

Nice Laurier stand/hutch. I never saw the two actually put together. Do you ever turn the lights on?

Yes, I turn the lights on. They really add life to the stand. Thanks.
