Back on topic, I wonder how this will look if they can keep George away from the computers and add to much CGI I love him and his movies but I can see how he might just go overboard with the CGI. I know there was a HBO movie on this subject a decade back, HBO?? Right?? While I am not a big fan of war movies I will probably see this movie.

wait wait wait
GL still makes movies besides star wars/indiana jones???

anyway, as long as he isnt calling the shots or writing the final dialogue it has a chance at being good (it sounds like a good story)

"we finally have the means" cue the CGI!!

im glad he is letting someone else direct, that usually turns out good for his movies (USUALLY)

I like how when you see a questionable title in the month of April your eyes automatically look for April 1st. George Lucas has done enough damage.

I hate to mention it, but wasn't all that sillyness brought to indy 4 by Spielberg and not Lucas? I think it becomes to easy to blame someone fore another persons bad idea.

I dont truly mind the gophers or the monkeys, they are on screen for not even a total of 2 minutes yet everyone complaing how they ruined the movie? Indy was a great movie the same as the other 3 IMO

They may not have ruined the movie, but they where quite annoying. For me, the moment I realized this movie was not really my cup of tea, was the nuke the fridge moment. It never really recovered from that.

Thumbs up

Industrial Light & Magic doing WWII dogfights. 'Nuff said. I'm sold already.

I agree.

Lucas has always taken inspiration from the dogfights of WWII. Much of the best action in Star Wars: A New Hope was pulled directly from dogfight footage in classic movies of the '40s and WWII gun camera footage.

From the very beginning of CGI I was excited to see what it could bring to this genre. It hasn't been feasable to actually destroy flyable aircraft from WWII for decades, so this is the only way that these stories are going to be told.

And what a story it is. I had the honor to meet and work with several Tuskeegee Airmen a couple of jobs ago. The stories these guys have to tell are mind-blowing. One gentleman spoke about strafing armed trains in Italy, screaming along the forest valleys above the tracks so that the AAA guns on the hills couldn't bring their guns to bear -- They couldn't aim that low. Another spoke about his first Me-262 kill and how he felt going up against a jet for the first time. Just amazing stuff.

The Tuskeegee men never lost a bomber under their protection. These guys could straight-up engage in combat with the best. Done right this should be quite a ride.

I just hope they don't toss-in a random storyline like they did with Pearl Harbor & Saving Private Ryan. The only great parts of those movies were the battle scenes (even though the Pearl Harbor attack & the Doolittle Raid were butchered from a factual standpoint).

JP6,

History Channel - Dogfights: Tuskegee Airmen (airs on Friday April 17 at 12:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m.)

"In the face of bigotry and ignorance, the Tuskegee Airmen, an all-black fighter squadron, shattered racist stereotypes. Their exploits became the stuff of legend. Watch as pilots Wendell Pruitt and Lee Archer, the Gruesome Twosome; score their highest victory in a single day over the skies of the Po river valley in Northern Italy. Then pilot Charles Mc Gee knocks down an Fw190 near Pardubice, Czechoslovakia. Finally pilot Roscoe Brown and the Tuskegee Airmen take down three Me262 jet fighters in a wild engagement just south of Berlin. First-hand accounts, rare archival footage and original shooting supplement the remarkable computer graphics."

Maybe the pilots you had the privilege meeting will be in the episode?

Excellent! Yes, I met Lee Archer and Roscoe Brown for sure. I'd have to see the other fellas to remember. Class acts, all of them. I really hope the movie does them justice.

I think that was a B-17 bomber who's landing gear wouldn't deploy. The underbelly gunner draws a picture of wheels on the plane. They magically appear before landing, therefore not crushing him.
