Default HELP!! - Video upscaling choices for the AE3000

Hello all,

I'm using the AE3000 with a PS3 and an old timer Denon reciever without HDMI (basically have the ps3 linked to it via optical). While the ps3 is okay for blu ray playback, it doesn't really do a great job of upconverting DVDs to 1080p. My requirement is only to max out the video quality and am happy with the sound, so don't want to settle for anything less than the HQV Realta /Reon chip and the budget is not a constraint. I'm considering the following choices:-

1- Get a denon (5308) / onkyo (SR876) reciever with Realta/Reon HQV video processor and continue to use ps3 to play DVDs, but pass the signal (both audio and video) through the reciever

2- Get the denon video processor (DVP602) with the Realta HQV chip, keep my old denon reciever for audio and keep using ps3 to play DVDs, but pass the video signal through the DVP602 and let it do the upscaling.

3- Get the denon blu ray player (DVD 3800) to replace the ps3 for blu ray / DVD playback. This player also has an HQV realta chip.

What do you guys think makes the most sense? Are there other alternatives to get the desired effect???

Would also be great to know from anybody whose using an HQV chip if it's worth the investment.

Thanks in advance for your assistance....

You're best bet would be to get a Blu-ray player with HQV. The receiver will do nothing since the PS3 can't output 480i in HDMI in DVD Mode. So the 'easiest' to do is to get a Blu-ray blu-ray and use Passthrought in the receiver..

You can still get a Samsung BDP2500/2550 on the cheap at Best Buy if you're lucky. I saw one in canada for 249$ liquidation the other day. They have HQV in them. However the new 3600 don't have any REON HQV in it (only a in house upconverter)
