You have very good taste, I can see that in your style (or the other half does?) That is a very "rich" color and decor, and it looks awesome. I like your gear too, similiar to mine and I love em'. It looks very well organized and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Nice job!

Thumbs up

Hah, I'm pretty sure we have the same couch/loveseat as you. We just picked 'em up a few weeks ago from Steinhaefels.

Very nice and clean.

I see your point prankster, while it would be more practical for me to do that, it wouldn't be as aesthetically pleasing to the eye. You see, since there isn’t a 90 degree angle wall, it would expose the back of the speakers to the open, which, to me, won’t seem naturally placed. I like my arrangement to appear it was naturally suppose to be placed there with no zip zap look. I stride for a balance between practicality and aesthetics. What I did is just increase the volume on the surrounds loud enough to compensate the distance, and everything is good. But thanks again for your pointers

Hey, you have a PA-120! Just noticed. How do you like it? You should post some in the PA thread so I'm not so alone.

LOL, I just noticed I posted almost the same thing in your "bedroom setup" thread too. I thought I was repeating myself. I obviously post too much here.

You could wall mount your side surrounds and have one over your entry door and one over the window on the right, that way they could at least both lie on the same "plane." I understand having to make compromises caused by room limitations though. I have an extremely wide but shallow room that has FIVE doorways, AND I am using towers for my sides... so speaker placement is a challenge for me as well.

I think you've made some really smart trade-offs in there, WalleO. I have a similar situation in my place. Not all of us are blessed with a perfect acoustical box as a starting place, and I've had to make a ton of concessions to balance aesthetics and sound. It ain't easy, but in the end it's a living space and should be comfortable and look the way you want it to look.

You've done a great job in there though! I've seen so many nice galleries lately I've been inspired to create one. I'll start snapping pix over the weekend.

Again -- great room!

thanks for your comments j6p and robin. To robin, while your suggested placing would give a better sound production, the trouble of having to hide the wires makes it an unfavourable task. But also, it makes it look a little... well, tacky if i may say so. but i see your point for sound improvement.

2x..

the left surround is pinched in too close to the front speaker, the one by the couch/window area...

take's a lot way from the sound, trust me i use to have my surround way up on the wall till i got some stands at ear height & the pure sound to your ear's make it 100% better..it's like being there...pretty immersive.

the back surrounds u want right at you also...it does take a lot away if you ask me

That should not be an issue, if you calibrate your setup with audyssey. The setup will set each speaker with the proper distance and sound level to the sweet spot. I have mine up in the ceiling and I’m not saying that's the best place for them, but for my room and to accommodate for others they are in the best place.

You can also spread your towers out a little further and you will have a much better sound stage, you have such a wonderful set-up to have them so close together, is a waste. If I had room I would place mine even further then what I have and believe me it makes a BIG difference.
