I love the book Outsiders as well as the movie and on amazon they have The Outsiders on Blu-ray.

Any ideas of when it is going to come out, cover art, release date, if it is real, etc.

^ If it had a preorder button, then chances are you'd see it soon.

But since it's just a 'email me when available' link, it's unfortunately just a placeholder based on searches. Stuff pops up on Amazon all time this way, and has no truth/detail behind it at all. Just a freak occurance.

Sure, it could still happen, but the chances that this link means anything are not great.

I hope it comes out for the sake of the fans of the film....but this movie was a classic case of starting out great and then getting overly sappy and dull towards the end. I hated the whole rescuing scene and the Johnny stuff thereafter. It became a Soap Opera at that point. Oh well.

could be an exclusive this sunday with the other exclusives. Best buy seems to have 7 or 8 exclusives at a time and puts them all in one ad. so maybe this sunday we will get more titles besides airplane, naked gun and pta

The Outsiders Blu-ray release date has been changed from September 12th to October 31st, in the UK. There is no U.S release date for The Outsiders in Blu-ray as yet.

It'd be great if Universal released Coppola's Rumble Fish (one of my favs) at the same time.

Yeah, pretty much.

So they can blame the book for what they didn't like about the story.

There were some differences but nothing that changed the overall tone.

I think you may be referring to the theatrical version with the horrible moody soundtrack. Coppola released a directors version with more rock n roll music, a few great Elvis tunes. I much prefer this version to the original.

That's what I thought, I haven't watched the movie or read the book in years but I remember little differences. At least they stuck to the book unlike most books turned movies

It was pretty obvious it would turn "sappy" given what it's about

No! A rock n roll soundtrack of The Outsiders, wouldn't sound appropriate at all with this type of movie, considering it being a drama. The original soundtrack in the theatrical version fit the movie perfectly. Why? Gloria is one of the most memorable tracks in the film and a great rock classic. The selections he made were really appropriate imo and fit the scenes nicely.

If this comes out on blu, I hope BOTH versions are available; Original theaterical AND the COMPLETE NOVEL.

I have a love/hate relationship with each version and it would be nice to have them both.
