Default My New HT Complete... for now

It has finally arrived, My new Pioneer PDP-C509A + BDP-51F

Went into JB Hi-Fi this morning to see if i could get a good price for the TV only.. After talking to the salesman i noticed that he really didn't know too much about his job. He was willing to listen to everything i had to say and want. The TV was advertised for aud$4496 alone. He said that he really couldn't do anything better than that..

I also wanted a stand alone Blu Ray player. Told him to give the Pioneer BDP-51FD for free with the TV.. He didn't seem to like that idea much. After much debating he ended up giving in, but he did have to raise the price a bit. The price for the BD Player in store was at $749 So together with the TV I paid aud$4770 which i think is a pretty good deal.

Now the question I have is, does this TV require "break in" time? If so, what does that exactly involve?

Sidebar - HOLY CRAP ROB that 'Movie library' in a booklet concept is something I've been meaning to do for a WHILE! How long did that take you to do? That format is perfect.

Thanks, To be honest.. I almost gave the idea away! Trying to get that format took a lot of time making sure everything would fit and it would be actually readable. But i'm glad i stuck with it. Makes it easier when friends come over to watch something they haven't seen before

Question though. What do you do when you buy a new movie? It messes up the alphabetical order...or do you have a section in the front called "New Releases"?

And as far as break in goes, check the Pioneer Kuro 9G owners thread in the Plasma Discussion Forum.

What would be cool is if you had a digital media book. No paper, no ink. That would be awesome if Harmony added that as a feature in their remotes.

Your fronts look awful far apart does that cause any issues?

Default New Posters framed and up!

Fianlly got the 3 movie posters framed and placed on my back wall... After having nothing on the wall for a long time, I think it looks quite nice. Check my Gallery for full pics

Not sure if i should move the little home theater signs from the side to, behind the tv.. any thoughts?

Talking New center speaker!

Stage 1 of my audio upgrade is complete!

It's only a small start, but I've got myself the Polk audio CSi5 center speaker to replace my Sony HTiB center speaker. Got it for a great price on eBay, brand new as well I was really surprised to see how much bigger it was than my Sony one, It wouldn't fit in my TV stand, so i had to take it apart and remove the 2 center support stands. Good thing its a real solid stand and it still holds the weight of the TV really well!

Going to give it a good test tonight when I watch a bluray. But from what I've heard so far in the short time I've had it, It's a massive difference in audio quality.

Next step is to save some money and get a matching set of fronts, then surrounds.

Pics of new speaker in my gallery! Check it out

I dig it! You should check out the way I hid the speaker wire going up to my rear surrounds. It would look great for yours too. It's just acoustical ceiling tiles covered in fabric.

I was thinking of going for the Monitor 50's or 70's because they are pretty cheap these days, But I might save up the cash and keep it in the RTi series if possible. Might have to do some more research about them.

Yeah man, thats looks nice what you've done. I might have to look into that, because those wires seem to ruin the whole room, I find wire management difficult

I'm tellin ya..... pick the right fabric... maybe even go from floor to ceiling with it behind the couch... and it will be a key design element in your room. If you are design challenged... find a lady friend to help with picking the right fabric. I think a maroon color goes great with the black leather... but then almost everything goes great with black. You can get the ceiling tiles at the home improvement store for about $20 for a dozen 2'X4' tiles. Fabric will vary on price according to what you pick. You can also get some batting to give them a fluffier look and a little better acoustical properties. Just cut to size and hot glue. They are light enough to hang on the wall with finishing nails or even velcro if you want a totally clean look. You'll have tiles left over so you can put them in other areas of your room to help a little with acoustics and just add some decor to the room. Butting them together in the corners behind your speakers may improve acoustics and just make the towers just look more impressive.

The console in your sofa looks a lot like mine too. Check out the amp I installed in mine to power a pair of Bass Shakers. I just lift the console cover to adjust the gain and the crossover to get the vibartions I want.
