Default HBO's "Six Feet Under" (2001-2005)

I am one episode away from finishing the series for the third time. The final episode is so amazing that I find myself waiting as long as possible to watch it. What is it about this show that is so great? To me it is all about the "Real Life Fantasy." I feel as though I am right there with the characters, and you almost believe that you are watching a real life family being filmed.

Are there any die hard fans out there? What are some of your favorite moments or episodes?

I'm with you on the show, man.
I finished watching it for the first time maybe 3 weeks ago and I'm obsessed with it.
I still find myself thinking about it, analyzing characters, etc.
The show is the best TV show I've ever seen.
The ending of the show was just brilliant even though it sucks it's over.
And I wish I could have a memory loss so I could re discover it all over again

Big fan here. I was really sad the series ended, but all good things come to an end. The finale was spectacular. It wrapped things up and it was excellent. I am a guy and I did cry when Claire was leaving. I also cried during the finale.

The show really touches on human emotion. It makes us realize that things don't last forever and we should cherish every moment. We should also take advantage of what's given to us and not wait around for it.

I am not sure I have a favorite part. The entire series was superb from start to finish. It had something for everyone. I was fortunate to pick up the complete box set a few years back for $60 bux on sale at Best Buy during Christmas. I was stoked! I have not watched it again from the origional airing on HBO. Mainly because it started giving me panic attacks. I sometimes wake up suddenly at night panicking because my mind realizes that once I die, that's it. There is no coming back. It's hard to explain but the feeling is so intense my heart races, my eyes well up and I have to get out of bed and walk around to calm my mind down. SFU just has a lot of death in it so it did not help.

I might give it another go sometime soon. I think I am doing much better with this whole death thing

So many great characters. I do agree, it was like watching a real life family drama unfold. If this ever comes to blu - DAY ONE PURCHASE!

It's one of the best, without a doubt. I think I've watched it three times through, too, and get new things out of it every time. SFU on Blu would be huge news indeed!

Definitely love the entire show, I jumped in on season 3 when it was originally airing and just purchased the whole set last month when it was in the gold box at amazon (woo!).

I'm going back through the show with my fiance since she's never seen it. We just finished season 2 and I'm kind of antsy to get going on season 3 (have to wait until she gets back from Colorado though, and until I have the home theater set up in the new house...which won't be much longer)

This is easily my favorite show ever. The way they present all of the characters really makes you care for them, regardless of whether or not you necessarily like them or identify with them. The story lines were compelling, and the actors were strong. My wife and I watched the whole series in a month, and it was a sad day when we finished it.

All good things must come to an end. (Everything, Everywhere, Everybody, must End...as the poster I have from the show says) Even the soundtrack is perfect.

Definitely one of my favorite shows, but I don't know if I can watch the finale too much (or even the last few episodes).

Certain things in the finale really get to me for some reason like
[Show spoiler]Nate smiling while chasing after Claire's car, and slipping out of view in her side-view mirror
or when
[Show spoiler]an old, [presumably] re-married David sees a young version of Keith playing football, and Keith looks up and smiles at him, just before David dies
. I think it got to me for the reason you mentioned, that it felt like this was a real family you were following for a few years of their lives and then
[Show spoiler] suddenly they are all dead. Even though they all pretty much lived long, full lives -- except for Nate (obviously) and Brenda's brother (who seemed miserable for his entire life). The way it skipped ahead several decades in the matter of seconds just made me think about how fast life seems like it might go by as you get older, and it's pretty depressing. I guess the point was to enjoy life while you have it
, and guess that was always the theme of the show.

I was really into the first season but the second season just went downhill. It seemed like they were trying too hard to have crazy/outrageous things happen to all the characters. I might re-watch it some day.

Anyone else watch at least some of this weekend's Six Feet Under marathon on HBO2?

I caught the last episode and a half. That final episode had me choked up almost from the opening credits. It's the series' 15th anniversary. I am hoping that this marathon was testing the waters of the interest in perhaps releasing the series on Blu-ray. I guess we'll see.

Question: Is there any particular reason they are marathon-ing the entirety of Six Feet Under? Usually, HBO doesn't air their older catalog unless it's through another party like Amazon Prime or HBO Now; otherwise, it's usually a special event.

Oh, nice. 2001 is so long ago, though...but I did start watching this show and it's definitely interesting. For one, the creator of this was the guy who gave us True Blood. And the cast was good to see all around, like Lauren Ambrose (who was in Torchwood), Michael C Hall (Dexter Morgan himself)...some other regulars like Lili Taylor, Jeremy Sisto, James Cromwell, Ben Foster (underappreciated actor)...

Another HBO series I would recommend that's great and interesting is Big Love. Sure, polygamy on its own would turn off a lot of people, but it really is a family drama that is interesting to watch and see.

I only watched a couple of seasons back in the day and I probably never watched an entire season all the way through.

It's a good show, but for some reason it never quite grabbed me the way some other HBO series have.

I will say that the final montage with that Sia song is one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever seen on television.

...I'm getting depressed just thinking about it.
