Default Drag Me to Hell

Am I alone here in thinking this movie is going to be hilarious? I know the trailer makes it out to be a typical horror movie, but several insiders have let the news go that this is going to be more like Evil Dead and it's actually a very funny dark horror comedy along those lines. Don't believe me? Than check out the pictures here http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/15883

Sam should have just done Evil Dead IV: Dead in the Water and just get it done all ready. Both Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell have been going on for years about it. But, noooo! Sam just wants to produce s****y remakes and straight to video sequels to those s****y remakes.

There are more than a few sequences that brings to mind the "Evil Dead" Sam Raimi... one scene in particular towards the beginning is pure vintage Raimi. And Raimi's brand of humor is present throughout of course.

But also in many ways it's throw back to horror films of old. In particular "Night of the Demon", which this borrows heavily from.

Raimi fans (of which I am one) will love it! Yeah, it's not Evil Dead IV... but it's a horror film, pure Raimi, and done damn entertainingly well.

When I first heard about this project probably 8 months ago, i thought wow, he's making serious horror? This is going to suck. But after waiting till it'd been filmed and reading more about it, i'm actually excited for it. Though the trailer does tend to trick people into thinking it's typical crap horror so I wish they'd make a better one, so Raimi fans know what they are really in for. I'm actually looking forward to this now.

I saw a clip from the film way back when during comic con.
extremely funny scene involving a stapler. felt like classic raimi.

heres for hoping.

Just back from seeing a sneak preview of it in NYC. Theater was packed, movie was fun, but I'm glad I saw it for free. Audience really was into it. Lots of jump scares, lots of gross-outs, lots of funny moments, a few cheesy CGI effects. Movie had kind of a "Frighteners" feel to it for me. Better seen with a big, live audience. I know I must be getting old because I kept thinking, "Can't they turn down the volume?" REALLY LOUD movie.

I can't wait to see this movie.

Raimi returning to the horror genre is awesome and the trailers look great.

Plus the early reviews for it are very, very positive so it just makes me wanna see the movie even more.

I have my doubts about ANY horror movie that is rated PG-13, especially a Raimi horror film. I know there are plenty out there who will disagree, but I just can't see how a horror film with a PG-13 can be any good and I have seen plenty of them and IMO most of them aren't good. They have to many limitations on the gore and violence. It's horror why hold back? Most of the kids who want to see it can and will just sneak in if it's rated R.

With the internets and tv, 14 is the new 24. She has seen far worse than a Raimi movie I'm sure

True. Sorta. The PG-13 rating does give it a "I'm a big director now I can't do hardcore R rated horror anymore" type of feel to it. Plus his Ghosthouse Pictures studio has put out nothing but crap. Except 30 Days of Night that is.

Fun. Impressive sound mixing - the best of modern Raimi horror films - as well as VFX/SFX and cinematography. Some spooks but nothing too haunting.

I think the Raimis can make a sequel out of this one.

Didn't he do that one with Katie Holmes where she was topless? Can't remember much else about the movie.

Seriously though, it had Keanu Reeves, Cate Blanchette, Greg Kinnear, and some other notable actors. It was "OK". It was bad enough that I can't really remember a whole lot of it.

The other side of your "sorta" about the PG-13 is that it leaves the door open for a theatrical release, then a year later a directors cut that's the "real movie I intended to make!!!", so you keep dipping and double dipping.

The Gift? Although I've never see it, I recall the topless Katie Holmes discussion from Harold & Kumar.

The gift wasn't really a horror, more of a phsycological thriller, and unlike raimi's horror films it was done in a serious tone from memory.
