Guys I need an economical but solid BD player. I had wanted to get a PS3 but there are no sales atm and my wife will shoot me if I try to spend $400 on one.
Looking for a sub $200 (if possible) BD player that does not suck. Recommendations? |

Thanks for the info. I read up on this model and it is impressive.
A bit higher than my target price range, although I realize $250 is getting down there in cost ![]() Is there any advantage in looking at Panasonic models if it will be feeding a Viera through a Denon receiver? Or does the BD player have to feed the TV directly to enjoy any "syncing" benefits or whatever synergistic technologies that manufacturers build into their sets? |

I have the Sony in the bedroom and its a very good player though I still like the PS3 much better. I had a Samsung BD-P1500 before, but I really didn't like it that much. I mean it works well, but it didn't play the majority of my recorded DVD's which was real frustrating. If you only use retail discs it works fine...a little slow, but it works nevertheless. You can get that for under $200 shipped on Amazon. If you can swing the extra $50 the Sony is well worth it. It loads faster and it looks a lot better...to me anyways. One thing I can say about the Samsung is that the settings menu is easier to use. I found the audio setup of the Sony a little more confusing where the Samsung was pretty straightforward.

You can get the Philips BD-P 7200 for $199.00 now and it is a very solid player.

There are often deals that can be found via Google search, too; promotions and such. GoSale.com is a great place to search for deals.
This one site called www.6ave.com has a feature that allows you to submit an offer on a product (as long as they stock it), and they can accept or reject your offer. I got my Panasonic DMP-BD60K for $235 shipped from them. It's a nice player, although it doesn't quite meet your sub-$200 criteria. The Sony BDP-S350 could probably be found for under $200 if you look hard enough. |
