Default Center channel and screen immersion

Right now my tv is on a long entertainment stand. Directly center, and under the tv is an opening where I have placed my cs2. The cs2 fits (just barely) and the center of the tweeter to the center of the tv is probably, 22-26".

Now, what I appear to have going on is, the sound doesnt have the feel of coming from the tv. In other words it doesnt have any depth to the screen. The sound doesnt feel as though it is coming from the actors.

I can mount the center above the tv, maybe I can set the tv on it (I would have to check)

I hope I made this topic clear. I find it very annoying, and last night watching dirty harry it was very noticeable, probably because of the remastering of the old track.(great transfer and sound btw)

Can you slide the TV back and put the center on the stand in front of the TV. I have my Polk RM8C like that and it looks and sounds very nice. Is the CS2 really 11" deep?? Doesn't sound right. Must be a HUGE center. My RM8C is tiny compared to that...only 4" deep lol.

Do you have front speakers? You could missing quite a bit of depth to your AQ if you don't..... The CS2 is a good center and should be performing well....

Does it sound boxy in there? I've never had luck with that type of setup. My center is under the tv, but on top of the stand. I also have it angled up (my gallery hasn't been updated since then). Can you post a picture of the setup? It might give us more ideas for you.

yes please, it's so much easier to see the pictures then have people describe their setup. They don't have to be the greatest pics in the world.

Yeah, it is really 11 inch deep, and it sounds awesome. Not sure what the situation is with the op's setup. The CS2 can be placed angled upwards to disperse the sound towards the center of the tv...maybe you can try that.

It doesnt sound boxy, assuming that I dont turn on cinema filter. I have t90e mains, and the cs2. The sound is great other than I have just noticed the sound doesnt feel like it is coming out of the screen, the sounds, sound "outside" of the tv. Kind of like the tv is set in the middle of a set of speakers.

I will snap a pick at lunch time, when i go home to collect the mail.

I have the CS10 and T90's working with a 605 as well, and my sound is excellent. Perhaps the setting on the 605 is not right for your center?

I dont know it sounds good, just doesnt make the sound feel as though it is coming out of the tv.

Maybe my distance is off, I had to change it a while ago because the sound, sounded like it was coming from behind the tv.

Maybe some of the audio gurus can chime in, but the positioning of your center seems good to me.

I could be a setting in the onkyo, or I have been looking for an excuse to mount it over the tv, one or the other

It looks good there, but if it doesn't sound good I'd go with a change. You could always mount the TV on the wall and put it on top of the cabinet.

Yeah I have thought about that, but I am looking to put a 58 panny or 60 pioneer in its place, and its a rent.

The place is a rental or the TV? If the TV is temporary just get a sturdy enough mount for a 60" and it would be easy to swap the TVs when you get a bigger one.

Yep. That is the same one I got my in-laws for their 46" LCD. I used the SF670 for my 58" because I wanted it to span three wall studs. Both were very solid and well built.
