Hulk not playing on PS3 - Blu-ray Forum

Well after all this time using my PS3 and having no problems with Blu-ray playback I am having my first problem. Hulk tries to startup and then goes back to the main PS3 and gives me this message...

This video cannot be played.

What gives?

That error code means the disc is faulty. It could be a crack in the disc or an error in pressing the disc. It's generally caused by discs that have physical error (damage, cracks, etc) rather than a software issue.

I'm afraid you'll have to return you disc to the shop to get a replacement.

I have the HULK and Incredible Hulk movies on BD and both play fine on my PS3, so it's not a general issue with this disc.

Well thats the thing I have had this disc since it first came out and it played just fine when I got it. And I have looked over the disc carefully and I see no physical issues with the disc at all not even a scratch.

How about other blu-rays, are they playing fine? My PS3 did something similar when the laser was going out. I started getting error codes on movies I had already watched with no problems.

Hopefully its just this movie though.

Popped in other movies just fine. Put in the Hulk today got to the main menu was scanning through and picked a scene to play and it didn't play it the screen stayed black. I then exited the movie tried to start it back up again and it keeps giving me that message now.

Which Hulk? The newest (Incredible Hulk) plays fine on my PS3, the 2003 version is on it's way to me as we speak, so I hope it works!

This is the old version. The new one works just fine.

Well, I suppose it's good that its just this one (could be worse). Some suggestions I saw online were to obviously make sure your firmware is up to date (2.70 I believe). Also try to do a settings restore and quick format. Maybe your PS3 is just tripping up.

If all else fails I would suggest backing up all your data and then doing a factory/hard reset. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Have you tried playing the disc on another Blu-ray player? That may help you narrow the source of the problem.

Also, make sure the disc is free of smudges and dust before trying it again.

Problem solved. I went with a longshot and e-mailed Amazon about my disc problem. They said even though I am way past my 30 return mark they would make a one time exception and send me a new copy and I could send my defective copy back to them. Go Amazon!

Sorry to bring back this old old thread.... but I'm getting the same error code for the NEW "Incredible Hulk" that I got via Netflix.... glad to see this error code isn't firmware related at least

So did the new copy work????

EDIT:

Looking at the disc.... it's in pretty bad shape.

I also have the same problem with my copy of "Incredible Hulk". I watched it awhile back with no problems, but when I try now, it recognizes it as "Incredible Hulk" but won't load, giving me that same error message.

Did anyone figure this out?

Amazon was kind enough to exchange my copy for a new one.

I reset my system settings and restarted my ps3, and now it's working.

Well...my Hulk (2003) will still not play. Even got a replacement disc from Target and reset my system settings as well. Still getting the same error as the OP
