As in, during night scenes, the TV goes from lighter gray to darker gray in bands instead of a smooth progression?

A lot of times it's because of the source. Too much compression can cause banding even on the best of TV's. Do you see it happen at all when watching Blu-ray?

What you might want to do is try turning down your contrast.

I'm guessing you're using your PS3 to watch movies.

This seems to be a pretty universal display setting for PS3's. Check your settings and try these out.

Also, you might want to see if anyone has posted any calibrations for your set. Here.

Just saw the video. Your TV is messed up, and adjusting the settings won't help it.

You better call Samsung for warranty service.

There's no fix for banding of that sort. Sharp & Samsung had probs with this a gen or two ago. Send it back to sammy & hopfully they will send you a new TV (a 2009 model!)
