why are ppl here against 3-D?

right, after seeing some of the comments on this article:

I was generally intrigued by comments like

3D is so 1950's. It didn't work in the 80's either. I don't know what makes them think it will work now with crude 20th century technology. Until somebody develops holographic projection, they should just abandon this gimmicky technology. I'd rather look through a Viewmaster.

seems so many ppl here are against 3d for the home. I have a 3d monitor (an iz3d) and enjoy 3d gaming and watching the occasional 3d movie, which I find quite enjoyable as it adds depth and an overall feeling of immersion.

Seems to me all the criticisms here come from people who either thing 3d is still in it's 1950's red/cyan stage, or that "3d is unwatchable" or some other stuff like that.

Rather than starting a new thread full of such comments, what true experiences, apart from theaters have ppl had with 3d- if any? Are such comments perhaps politically motivated? That is against 3d on principle? Why??
