Default Dark Castle To Investigate The Nye Incidents

I thought that when Megan Fox signed on to 5 other projects that meant Hack/Slash was dead but apparently it has a director attached and he's also moving on another Devil's Due property

Some pretty huge news hit the trades this evening as they are reporting that Dark Castle has tapped Todd Lincoln - who was attached to The Fly remake and the forthcoming adaptation of Hack/Slash - to produce and direct a live-action adaptation of Devil's Due graphic novel The Nye Incidents for Dark Castle and Warner Bros. Pictures. You can read the details inside.

Dark Castle is turning to aliens as its newest bogeymen.

The Nye IncidentsThe Warner Bros.-based horror label has picked up rights to Devil's Due graphic novel "The Nye Incidents," from sci-fi and horror novelist Whitley Strieber. Todd Lincoln will direct.

Inspired by true events, the comicbook revolves around a medical examiner on the hunt of a killer of alien abductees.

No scribe has yet been hired to pen the script.

Strieber is best known for "The Wolfen" and "The Hunger," which were adapted into pics in the 1980s, as well as alien abduction tale "Communion." "The Coming Global Superstorm," a book he co-wrote with Art Bell, inspired Fox's tentpole "The Day After Tomorrow."

Dark Castle's Joel Silver, Andrew Rona, as well as Alex Heineman, who brought the project into the shingle, will produce, along with Daniel Alter, who also has "Johnny Quest" set up at Warner Bros. with Dan Lin shepherding the project. Alter co-produced Fox's actioner "Hitman" and has adaptations of the Devil's Due books "Hack/Slash" and "Lost Squad" set up at Relativity-owned Rogue Pictures.

"Nye" is the first project that Dark Castle has acquired since Rona, formerly prexy at Rogue, joined the company.

Genre label has creepy-kid pic "Orphan" bowing this summer.

Lincoln, who had previously been attached to a remake of "The Fly" at Fox Searchlight, will also serve as a producer on "Nye." He is attached to helm "Hack/Slash" for Rogue.

Default Dark Castle To Investigate Whitley Strieber's THE NYE INCIDENTS!

Here's a little more info on the premise from Beaks over at AICN.com

Beaks here...

Whitley Strieber has been the go-to author for alien abduction yarns for twenty-one years now, ever since he went public with his (alleged) real-life run-ins with "The Greys" in COMMUNION. I'm as unconvinced now of the existence of these extraterrestrials as I was back then, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a spooky sci-fi flick about deep, penetrating encounters with aliens every now and then.

So I guess I'm looking forward to Todd Lincoln's adaptation of Whitley Strieber's graphic novel THE NYE INCIDENTS, which centers on a female medical examiner's search for a serial killer who's knocking off alien abductees. I haven't read Strieber's book (haven't read anything of his since COMMUNION), but I did love THE HUNGER and THE WOLFEN when I was younger, and am heartened that he's now mining his "experiences" for straight-ahead fiction. I may still think he's gone well around the bend, but there was a time when the guy could spin a sci-fi/horror yarn like nobody's business. There's no reason this couldn't be a lot of fun.

It helps that Dark Castle has got someone as smart and passionate as Lincoln signed on to direct (he's also attached to HACK/SLASH with producer Daniel Alter, who's one of several producers listed for THE NYE INCIDENTS). There's no screenwriter yet. Why not hire Strieber?
