Kojima Productions: Do you really want Zone of the Enders 3 ?

However, it looks like their may still be a chance for a third Zone of the Enders title. In the latest episode of the Metal Gear Solid Integral podcast, the crew at Kojima Productions talk extensively about the franchise. They know that Zone of the Enders is a popular series amongst the diehard Kojima fans, but they question "How many people really want Zone of the Enders a sequel?", putting emphasis on the casual gamers, rather than the hardcore ones. The discussion ends with Aki Saito saying "if there's so many people wanting to see Zone of the Enders, why not put the priority on top, a little further up, you know, but we just want to know.", encouraging listeners to "make sure you write your comments and we'll check your comments out".

Who wouldn't? ZoE2 was one of the best PS2 games ever!

I really enjoyed the first (though I don't remember it being a very long game), but never played the second. If they did a PS3 version of the game I'd definitely be interested.

The first two were good IMO. I think Kojima should be allowed to make whatever he wants. He deserves it as he's a genius.

This is proof Kojima wants to make games he want to make. I did remember that MGS 3 was suppose to be the last game of the series, well fan reaction led to getting him to make an MGS4.

Kojima Talk about ZO3 in the last Famitsu :

“ZOE is a title that has an extremely large fanbase requesting a sequel. That holds especially true for The 2nd Runner, the sequel. That game was praised all over the world, and we still get a lot of intensely devoted adulation for that game. After Metal Gear Solid, it's the Kojima Production title that has the largest and most dedicated fanbase. But there is a mountain of things that have to take priority over that, and we just haven't been able to make it a reality yet. I'm positive in my heart, though, that I'll be able to bring a sequel to all the fans someday.”

and ZOE2 :

We're always fantasizing about how we'd make an advanced new version of ZOE: The 2nd Runner with all the cutting-edge tech we have now if we ever had the opportunity.

They should remake the first 2 and include them with ZOE 3. Have the player play through all 3 to get the full effect of the stories. It's not like ZOE 1/2 won any awards for game length...PS3 has MORE than enough space/power to 1080p@60 those games!

Doesn't mean Kojima Productions has the ability to produce three PS3-quality Zone of the Enders' in one package, though. Even if it wasn't a side-project to a major new MGS.

If Kojima is asking the fans now if they really want ZOE3, that probably means it's years away. I know many people hoped it was already in development.
