Right now I am considering upgrading all my DVD players with the new Sony BDP-S300. There is no working combo players on the market and the only reason to own a combo is because of Universal Studios is still exclusive to the HD-DVD format. So I am leaning toward going 100% BLU-RAY and buying several BLU-RAY players.
The advantage of upgrading all the DVD players in ones house with BLU-RAY players is one can stock a single inventory of new release movies in the BLU-RAY format and play the movies anywhere in the home. Works great for large families.

I'm fully plan to upgrade all my DVD players to Blu-Ray players. Seeing how I only have one other TV in my house with a DVD player, My BDP-S1 will get moved to that room and the BDP-S300 will take it's place in the living room.

Unless they start pushing out combo dvd / blu-ray discs on all new releases... I kinda have to replace all dvd players at some point. But not until they're ~$50 per player. Or until I'm a millionaire. Whichever comes first I suppose.

I am looking at replacing 6 DVD players with $400-$500 BLU-RAY players. 3 of the players would be gifts for my parents who borrow my movies all the time.

I'm just been in a frugal mood lately, had to pay off the no interest financing on my PS3 the other day. I'd still like to see what's happening with the new players this fall with picture in picture before looking at something else. I wouldn't mind a stand-alone later on to cut down on the fan noise of the PS3.

I hope to replace my 1 dvd player with that bdp s300 or whatever it is. if it takes another price drop. I need to get a better flat panel for our bedroom before I get a bd player for there. right now the wife doesn't want anything bigger than our 20'' SD lcd. and that breaks my heart.

You made a good point that I forgot about. I also would need to keep my region free and region selectable DVD player that I do not use to often. One can purchase a region selectable and region free HDMI 1080P upconvert DVD player for under $100 on EBAY. I wonder if any BLU-RAY players have any secret codes or can be modified to make the DVD section region selectable or region free?
Ok I would upgrade all my DVD players to BLU-RAY players one day accept for the one region free/selectable player.
