Is there any way to adjust the column widths in your inbox? The "from" column often cuts off the text too early for me, not letting me see how many messages are in that conversation. Yahoo mail lets you do this easily.

This isn't the best answer, but I know there's a program called MailPlane for Macs that is made for Gmail -- and looks like Gmail -- but is an actual email program (like Outlook), so you can customize it more.

I imagine there is something similar for Windows.

Not sure if you can change the gmail.com layout around.
