I live in one of 13 states that currently have dispensaries for Medical Marijuana. Real doctors more and more are prescribing the use of Marijuana as a form of medication for various illnesses such as depression, anxiety, nausea and pain.
I've noticed that places like Boston just voted to decriminalize possession of an ounce or less of marijuana. This and similar scenarios across our nation seems to be taking place. The ironic thing is that over 800,000 people were prosecuted and imprisoned for Marijuana related crimes in 2008. Our government is currently spending a great deal of time, money and manpower to fight Marijuana users, sellers, growers, etc and that’s fine, except In the same breath, our government is also collecting tax money from sales of Medical Marijuana. Is there a difference? A conflict of interest? What do you think? Should Marijuana be legalized? |

I don't care if people use it, I know the arguments about marijuana vs tobacco or vs alcohol, or about the windfall of money for the government if it's legalized and taxed, but in any case I don't think for a minute that it would be a good idea to legalize it.
So... no. And I don't see this thread lasting very long. |

Yes and tax the hell out of it. If you smoke too much you're gonna goto sleep. If you drink too much you might drive and kill someone.
If only it were legal in other countries so we would have a new crop to export instead of importing it all the time illegally. |

I think it should be legalized, regulated, and taxed. The drug laws in this country are ridiculous. Addicts usually need help, not jail time. |

Yes there is usually a reason someone lets an addiction take over their life. Look at alcoholism. I consider alcoholism worse than smoking too much pot.

The laws are so vague in Quebec, it's hard to know what's going on. I think medicinal use is permitted but i'm not sure. Cops here don't really care that much, usually if they want to say something they'll just tell you to put it out. I'm still freaked about it sometimes though when it's on me, that's what living in Texas for 10 years will do to you !! lol

Depends on the state. In California, per the law, you can carry up to an ounce and as long as it's in the same bag, it's a misdemeanor. If you have baggies it's intent to distribute. Really fine line. Most of the time a cop will just make you put it out and warn you rather than waste time and resources on something like that.

That's the fine line. If the cop is having a good day and you are respectful then you can usually get off. Bad day and you are an idiot then you can get taken in. The police have a right to arrest you on suspicion of selling but the charges won't stick unless you have the baggies or other items.
