Default The fiasco that is Sin City 2

With the release of Sin City hitting Blu last week and getting around to finally watching it last night I figured this would be a good time to bring up the potential sequel to Sin City. If you haven't heard yet the sequel is being shopped around to distributors and Robert Rodriguez should be at the helm to direct again.

My answer to all of you is will you be excited for another Sin City or do you feel they should leave it alone? I remember Frank Miller planning to write another graphic novel about Nancy regarding the loss of Hartigan. Details have been pretty hazy.

I feel that Sin City is a one of a kind film and ranks up there as one of the best in its genre. Thoughts?

I must admit that I would like to see a sequel, but I do worry about the direction it will go in and how the finished product will turn out. After The Spirit fiasco....man I'm worried. At least double R is back to helm, but Frank Miller has to come with the goods because The Spirit was good ideas gone completely wrong. I don't know if it was his writing that was the problem or his directing...maybe both. I don't hate the movie, but I was extremely disappointed. Maybe it was double R who kept Frank in check during with the first movie.

I think they should leave it as a stand alone film so that it can garner the respect it deserves and earn it's place among the truly classic originals. A sequel would just diminish that.

I look at it as a classic stand alone film, but if done right it could be a very powerful and important trilogy in film. I think as long as Robert Rodriguez is still direct and cast the right people, while keeping the original people from the first it will be just fine.

With Rodriguez announcing that he is producing Predators and finally getting to work on finishing Machete this summer and doing Nerverackers, I doubt Sin City 2 is starting filming this year. Unless Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez can convince Quentin Tarantino to help out again.

I saw The Spirit and I thought it was dumb but enjoyable.

It's a bit too early to call it a fiasco don't you think ? Let us wait and see it first.

I think it's safe to call it that. It was supposed to be made and released three years ago in the summer of 2006.

Well no, it's not even a beginning of a movie yet. We'll wait and see how this turns out. Hopefully RR will stay true to the first one and make another badass film

Frank Miller isn't going to write a different graphic novel for the film. There's already subject matter that they are going to use from the novels he's already wrote.

With that said, if they bring in Johnny Depp and Rourke comes back, then by all means, they need to make it another.

Yeah, interesting that's number 3 that he's showing up on. But, what about #2?

If they plan a 2011 release for Sin City #3, then they really need to get the ball rolling for #2!

I read somewhere (Rotten Tomatoes?) that Sin City 2 was going to be a prequel dealing with the Clive Owen character and the prostitutes. I really like the film, so I'm hoping for a sequel. Freddy

You could say the original star wars trilogy or even the prequel trilogy for what it was, which isn't saying much outside the sci-fi genre. I would say Lord of the Rings, and I'm going to predict the the third installment of Batman won't make it a mess. Oh and of course the Bourne trilogy, and Indiana Jones.
