Default Ikea TV mounts- are they decent?

Has anyone used this flatscreen TV mount from Ikea? Just wondering about other people's experiences. I will be mounting a 42" or 47" LCD on it (eventually).
Would I be better off with a Monoprice basic mount for a little more $$$?

Monoprice, couple more bucks will get you a much better mount. I bought my mount for my plasma there an its great quality.

This one should work for you.

That mount looks pretty suspect to me. If you have an Ebay account check out THIS tilt mount. I purchased one a few weeks ago and its awesome. It comes with every possible bolt you could need for any TV up to 63" and up to 165lb. I got it for $25 shipped and its even less now.

Yeah, I wouldn't even trust hanging a picture frame with that Ikea mount...much less a tv! I also got my mount from Monoprice for $30 bucks and it is great.

I would spend the extra $10 and get a monoprice mount. My 107 lb plasma is on a monoprice mount and I don't worry about it at all.

It states:

"Different wall materials require different types of fasteners. Use fasteners suitable for the walls in your home (not included)."

I wouldnt buy that crap. Go with monoprice.

monoprice is a good choice. ikea's wall mounted stuff uuuuusually uses european wall stud dimensions, not american. it may not support the advertised weight on an standard american wall.

So has anyone actually used this Ikea wall mount to substantiate these assumptions? Why such hate for a different design?

I've had a 75 lb lcd on one of these ikea mounts for over a year now. Its very simple and has no frills at all but its pretty solid. Short of a sloppy job securing it to the wall, I don't see it failing.

i have purchased a total of 3 mounts from Monoprice

they were used on a 32, a 37 and a 42 in HDTVs

i got to say they are the best mounts out there for the super low price of ea one of them not being over $18 or so....

definetly go monoprice and be done with it...

packages always arrived in less than 2 days...

I bought that ikea wall mount and tried first with an LG LCD 32'' and worked great. Now I'm using it with my LED samsung 46". Works pretty nice since it holds 132 lbs.

I would recommend it.

Default Ikea TV mount

Have used the Ikea mount several times with up to 50" tv. Although it is a tad different in design and may not be suitable for your particular needs, it is by no means "crap". If mounted properly it will support the rated weight with no problem. The design is actually quite ingenious and the materials are top quality.
