Default J.J. Abrams talks Blu-ray Extras and Deleted Scenes

I’ve seen “Star Trek”. I saw it last night at the great Paramount Theater on the Studio Lot and have to say, the film is really great. If you were nervous about the cast, don’t be. If you thought J.J. Abrams is just a TV director…he’s stepped up his game to the next level. And if you were somehow thinking Paramount was going to nickel and dime the franchise like they’ve done in the past, the special effects in this film are going to shock you.

Simply put, “Star Trek” has opened the summer movie season with a huge home run and I don’t know how anyone will be disappointed.

Anyway, earlier today I spoke with the entire cast as a reporter for Collider and our partner website Omelete out of Brazil. In the coming week I’ll be posting the interviews, but I wanted to get something J.J. told me online asap.

That’s because I haven’t heard anything yet about the forthcoming “Star Trek” DVD/Blu-ray and was curious what fans could expect. J.J. told me the deleted scenes make up between 5 and 10 minutes and he also talked about what some of them were and what extras would be included. Here’s what he said:

I've never seen an episode of Star Trek or any of its movies, but I want to go see this movie. I've never seen LOST but it seems like whatever J.J. is attached to ends up being good.

I remember hearing him say that was his goal to make a star treck that captivates people like when he first saw star wars.

Just a note - he directed Mission Impossible: III, so he's not new to directing big box office movies.

Then you also had to sign the non-disclosure agreement that I did at my early screening. Beware my friend, the studio is actively searching threads for blogs and reviews from these screenings. The good news is that the screenings that take place on Thursday or later won't have to sign the NDA's.

If they are, then they won't have to worry about this one -- it only gives Positive remarks, and at the most, only a few words about the cast & special Efx. It is by no means, a Detailed review with plot points, spoilers, or anything. Can't wait to see this on IMAX myself!

It looks like a very good start to the summer blockbuster season, along with WOLVERINE (got my 4 E-Movie Cash tix printed & ready to use, from buying the 3 X-MEN's & Max Payne on Bluray at BB, so Wolverine will be a nice Free movie to use them on! I love it: Each movie had the E-Cash sticker on them, & I thought it was just One for every 2 for $35 with that deal).

Didn't he already do this with Mission Impossible 3?

*WARNING! Huge spoiler, do not highlight if you do not want to ruin the plot for yourself*
[Show spoiler]he goes back in time to save Kirk if I read correctly because Nero goes back in time to destroy Kirk. Vulcan is only destroyed in one of the parallel dimensions while Vulcan is still fine in the other one in which we see as the original TOS. That is how Vulcan still exists in the TOS episodes
